how do i stop feeling super paranoid??

i've been inconsistently using for a while and i have a pretty low tolerance, i usually only have 0.5g or sometimes less, but recently it's started to make me feel super paranoid and "awkward", for the lack of a better term.

in the past, i'd only feel paranoid at the beginning of my high as i was scared of getting caught, but after 10 minutes i'd feel great. now i feel horrible for the entire time and i'm not sure what to do about it. i try my best to relax and tell myself that my thoughts aren't true, but it doesn't help. it could also be the fact that i have barely eaten before smoking, so i'm going to try eating beforehand.

does anyone know how i can stop this? i'd really appreciate it =D☹️
 
Weed can cause anxiety for me too, usually in the onset and then it smoothes over. When I begin smoking more frequently, it doesn't cause me as much of an issue as my tolerance goes up.

Have you always had this reaction to weed? And you only get this paranoia from weed, it doesn't happen any other time?

this is a new reaction for me, it began about three weeks ago. when i would smoke before that, it was likely that i'd feel paranoid within the first ten minutes, but i'd only feel paranoid about being caught. once i went in my room, i'd feel happy.

occasionally i'd feel a bit weird, not paranoid, but something else i can't really describe with one word. but it's different now, it's a constant feeling of paranoia and "weirdness" for the entire high.

when i'm sober, i don't feel the same paranoia as i do when i'm high... i do constantly feel anxious or tense, and i guess being high exacerbates these feelings, but it didn't do that before. i just want it to stop

Firstly its not normal but its also not uncommon to have the feeling of paranoia presence especially in the case of low tolerance/noobies . In my opinion tho 0.5g isnt that low really i noticed that some older smokers who have smoked many years would take their time on a 0.5g joint
Tolerance: as deficit suggested that once you gain some tolerance, its likely these issues will go away. Its similiar issue for myself (ive started and stopped many times over the years weeks, months even years off so as you can imagine my tolerance has really varied at times.


The paranoia at the beginning of using previously you had in the past sounds more like anxiety related to being caught, as you said yourself within 10 mins youd feel great.

Strains and Strength % : Strains can really vary, i might be able to vape a fair amount of one strain and have a blast, but then ill vape a bit of another and feel completely whack (Especially in a social setting) , the Terpenes and other cannabinoids present (as well as the obvious one, THC/THCA level) are the biggest play here, as if it's Sativa (energising) or Indica (sedating) dominant species of cannabis . Some people feel more paranoid consuming indica because they become clumsy and tired/groggy , where as some people feel more paranoid consuming sativa because they feel restless and with no body stone to calm them down physically, they feel worse

Another thing to note here is that if you vape/smoke/eat weed then do nothing your paranoia and anxiety can be way worse because you are not distracting yourself with anything and you will become hyper focused on these thoughts and senses that kick up a stir in your brain and overall feeling. The other issue is if you consume and then put yourself in a position that brings out anxiety and paranoia such as a social setting or using in an area where you really shouldnt be / can get caught.

High CBD strains: I find mixing CBD flower with THC flower in variable ratios is just awesome it helps to relax the high , it can be a bit less recreational but honestly its been a gamechanger for me and many others who enjoy mixing it , its also a way nicer mixer than tobacco / cigarettes which doesnt belong in a joint with cannabis in the first place. CBD can lessen the negatives or THC its best to use it at the same time as you use the thc. CBD flower is the best in my experience



My take on this: Try microdosing until you have gained some level of tolerance, use a pipe or a little one hitter or whatever and also please do try some CBD flower mixed in you can do whatever ratio you want i would suggest trying 1:1 and going from there

My fisrt thought lower the dose, when young 1 day breaks were enough to get me overwhemly high day 2. 0.5 gr. of 15% THC weed is in a situation like that a lot. This stopped when i got older, no more tolerance reset. Although raising the dose with Weed is ime is not necessary, weird.

At the beginning of the effects a somewhat irritating body feel presents, the hearth starts pumping.
You get that effect? That might be a trigger for the feelings later on.
It is part of it vasodilation, raising your hearth rate.
And some are more susceptible for anxiety/ paranoia, seen people who did it once and never again.
Eating it also caused some disasters, as big bong rips.

Are you fameliar with regulating your breathing, as that is directly connected to your hearth rate.
You can put it in autonomic by a simple teknique. Relax (sort of) in a comfortable position, close your eyes, with a finger start pinching or inching lets say your leg. Concentrate on it and examine that feeling.

Logic behind it is your brain attention is on that spot. So the brain is busy, and if all goes as plan,
cant spend time on basic functions.

Your autonomic systems tunes breathing rate down, some could actually be hyperventilating a bit (fight/ flight response). The hearth rate follows and you calm down. Btw also works for me when i have hick-up.

Or start daily smoking. See if its the breaks cause, quit or endure. Easy to say, as i do get the effect you mention, but seem immune for para on Weed. CBD is also good advice a 50/ 50 mix.

for starters 0.5g is not a small dose of todays weed, not at all.

if your weed is 20% thc for example, your 0,5g contains 100mg thc. If , with decades of tolerance I get high af on a 40mg thc edible - what does that tell you? I'm beautifully high right now after smoking a 0.25g single skin blunt

So, try lower doses if you want to continue with it. Just have a few tokes and put it down for half an hour to see where you're at. Smoke no more than 0.1g to begin with, not 0.5g.

If it's still making you anxious try dosing 60-80mg cbd oil half an hour before any weed

If that doesn't work then, like with many others, cannabis simply is not for you right now, maybe never. The thing is to not try to force the issue - cannabis is not good for some people

Also I echo the idea of using higher levels of CBD. I dose twice per day with CBD distillate so I usually already have CBD in my system whenever I smoke
 
Forgot to mention vaping. Since 16 i been smoking.
So when i got my first vape it was like when is that mindblowing hit gonna kick in.
It didnt ime vaping is more mellow then smoking, more subtle, softer.

The reason i still burn it also. Depending the cicumstances. But you could check it.
Maybe its the better high for you.

Thats actually whay i am doing, CBD weed being way cheaper 1/3 the price.

So strong weed here usually is 20 %. So my mix has maybe some what above 10 % THC. Works perfect.

thank you for telling me this because i honestly thought 0.5g was a small dose lol.

i think the problem may be fixed now, yesterday instead of having 0.5g at once, i think i started off with maybe 0.3g, then 0.2g an hour or so later, and like 0.4g an hour or two after that, and i never felt paranoid although i wasn't high for as long as i usually am, but thats ok i guess. so the problem was just the dose, thank you guys for telling me

That is so true.

To answer this question, we have to tackle the stoner culture that says "stronger is better".

it's actually not.

The ever increasing THC levels in commercial weed are causing problems with addiction and mental health.

Cannabis should be grown naturally, and not force farmed as is the norm these days.
 
remember that over the years cannabis THC % strength has grown and grown, it used to be so low you could only really get high by making it into hash , then there was like 4/5% strains then 10% later on and so on
 
Well as its luckily a short one to watch Huberman can podcast over 2 hours easy.
I ll some up a little, Sativa or Indica, most are Hybrids anyway.
They have different effect s main difference Sativas stimulate the parietal lobe,
more focus/ energy/ creativity vs couchlock.
Only difference. Both disrupt the Hippocampus, involded in short term memory ...

The ratio of THC/ CBD is also to my surprise not of influence, on getting para.

Also if a person is mellow or anxious sober plays no role, dosage mostly aswell as strain.
And might be he mentioned being used to it helped to. Thats been certainly my experience.
Being functional on it requires daily use, or a strong mind.

Also other things he mentioned [unrelated to the topic] that were new to me.
No mention of other Cannabinoids roles and the Terpenes. Probably a bit old.
No just 1 year then its a bit incomplete imo. But its about the PARA.

And he aint no Rogan podcast type. He actually is a dr., Neurogolist does Ophthalmology ?
He is chil and easy to understand. How he made so much hours of casts, total mysterie 2 me.
Is it his dedicated mission or can you actually earn a living doing this?

That's definitely not a universal experience.

While what you said can be the case on occasion, I often don't find it to be so - some strains (or batches of strains) will definitely calm my mind when anxious beforehand for example

Also on rare occasions an edible can leave me mildly anxious for a while when I felt fine pre-dose.
