How did you meet your current significant other? *merged*

BL. Love of my life. Things are hard at the moment, but life has its ways of doing that to us, ay? Hopefully things will start to look better.

Maybe, just maybe, I'll get my shit together, fly to him and save us.

I met my now-fiance at work, actually!

Everyone says work relationships don't work, but we've proved them wrong ;) When I started with the company I was part of the marketing team, in the "offices" and he was a warehouse guy, down the back. We met only infrequently, only saying a perfunctory "hi" in the hallways (I always thought he was cute, and only later I found out he thought I was hot too). We couldn't have been more different.. I was the polished, suit-wearing, uni-educated professional and he was a pot-smoking ameteur guitarist with long hair down to his back, a goatee beard and piercings everywhere ;)

I had a boyfriend for the first year I worked there so we were never anything but polite to each other, but just prior to the work Christmas party in that first year my boyfriend and I split up... someone told Dale about this, and he decided to come along to the work Chrissy do (which he'd never done before). That night, I was in the mood for some cathartic post-breakup sex with a totally inappropriate guy, and I had my sights set on him. We flirted all night, and ended up kissing in the back of my (very drunk) boss's car while my boss' wife drove us to a local nightclub after the function.

We didn't seperate lips all night, it was a fantastic evening... we even went down to a nearby beach and made out in the sand and ended up with sand everywhere... but, frustratingly, despite all my best efforts, he wouldn't sleep with me that night! :( Damn. Then he became a Challenge.

And thus began the slow getting-to-know the 'real' Dale. And as I did, I was surprised with the person I found... a really sweet, totally loyal guy, who was lots of fun, had a huge circle of friends who welcomed me with open arms... we had more in common than I first gave him credit for.. he may not have been 'book smart' like me but he was savvy in many ways I was not. Plus, we liked the same music, and I loved that he was so sociable and funny... he took my mind off my heartbreak, and eventually that little 'work fling' just developed into something really deep and solid. He left my work after about a year or so after that, so it's no longer a 'work' relationship you could say.

Shit, I've *totally* rambled... so sorry. I am pretty drunk. :D

Shit, I just finished reading that and couldn't stop smiling! That was such a sweet story and you two sound perfect together =D

One of the places I really least expected it would happen. At one of my best mates birthdays. It was his youngest sister. I knew of her but had not seen her since she was 14 or so (she is now eighteen), and did not even recognise her.
We got talking at some point through the night and eventually ended up hooking up although I had no intention of it happening. We have been together for 4 months now and she is moving in with me in the next month. Very excited.

I can't believe so many people here met their SO on Bluelight! Pretty incredible if you ask me. Really.

That said, I met my significant other online as well. I was at a party at my friends house one night. I had a bit too many to drink and thought it would be a good idea to go on my friends computer and start talking to all of his friends. Anyways, I started having a conversation with an absolutely amazing person. Eventually, I had to pee so I got up and forgot to go back. I must have given her my screen name at some point during my rants, so fortunately she started up a conversation with me a couple of days later. We talked online for a a couple weeks and I fell in love with the girl. I eventually gave her my phone number, and we spent hours everyday talking and talking. Conversation never seemed to be at a loss, and we shared so much in common. We later met face to face (finally). It was odd... I didn't feel uncomfortable at all, or nervous in any way. It felt like I had known her all my life, and she acted just as natural. We hit it off and we've been together ever since. Our one year is a few days away. I know one year isn't that long.. but it's the longest relationship I've ever been in, and the best one at that.

Thank the lord for those bastard that thought making a data link between universities was a good idea.

Ain't that the truth.
I met my partner at the end of college. He was pointing at me on the dance floor and I went over to ask why. We abandoned our college formal to go talk, found out we had lots in common and things went from there. After our first date he kissed me on the cheek and gave me the firmest but gentle hug and I was smitten. Best chance I've ever taken, 6 years on and we still haven't run out of things to talk about. <3
It hasn't always been easy, and despite some rough patches our relationship has never been stronger. My man has an awesome saying he heard, in our relationships we should be poets not accountants. It's a great philosophy to have. :D

i was trying to hit on her asian friends cuz i think asians are cute

plus she was in my chemistry class, now she's in my anatomy class but we do lots of anatomy together at home :P

we met at a Halloween rave in 2000...i thought he had an amazing costume with a glowing staff and dreads made of tubing...

i pranced up to him in my 7ft wings and said: "i would like to compliment you on your attire for the evening" and pranced away...

he found me on the dance floor and i took him home 30 miles in the opposite direction i was headed...i had given him my number but without an area code...it took him 2 weeks to call...addiction ensued

I had stumbled into our dorms lounge, drunk off my ass, to meet my g/f (at the time) who was upstairs. I saw my now-girlfriend and completely forgot about my girl and why i was in the lounge. I stopped and talked to her all night. Someone later told me the girl i was suppose to meet heard where i was and what i was doing, got mad and left. oops? :D

hhmm...I'll try to make this short :D

I met my wife because I dated her older sister :D We became friends during that time and I kind of developed a few feelings for her and she did for me. Never acted on them, but when I found out that her sister was seeing someone else (ie...cheating on me) well...things kind of changed after that. There was a lot of hesitancy though as she was younger at the time and also 7 and a half years younger than me. So people didn't think we should be together at the time, but we got together anyway. Everything worked out and it's all history now though. Married for close to 7 years and been together for over 8 now.

Married my Administrative Assistant

In 1981, I was transferred by my employer to another geographic location. As soon as my boss introduced me to my Administrative Assistant, I thought how great she looked. (She worked for me and 2 other guys).

We started eating lunch together and one thing led to another and in 1984 we got married. The new job was a disaster, but the marriage has been great.

meet my SO in high school, he became my best friend, now we are in college, sophomore year we started sleeping together and now we have been happily together for a year, and have been thinking about our future

I was hanging out at this local art/party space we used to call the flower st. house. I heard everybody say, Pnut is here! And here comes this dusty drunken blonde boy ambling in. He had just got back from Burning Man and I had just got back from house sitting in frisco for some friends who went to BM.

I'd never met anyone in that scene who was actually as experimental and psychedelic as they postured, but he definitely transcended that. We started talking right away about festivals and such, I knew that he was a mutant right off the bat. He was very very drunk and obnoxiously flirting with me. I hadn't had anything to drink because I was detoxing from my trip, so I was not sharing in his headspace. When I got my bike out to leave he insisted on skating home with me. I couldn't say no. He fell off his board like a block after we started, hehhehe. When we got to my house we exchanged numbers and he gave me this firm hug filled with so much empathy and sexiness. I melted a little.

We both were getting over serious flings on our previous trips, so it took a couple weeks for us to connect again. It was actually me who made the move of wanting to get to know him better. I've never met a man like him. He is truly amazing and all I could ask for---it has been almost 8 months. I never expected to meet anyone I had anything serious in common with where I live and I don't think he did either, so we are very much blessed. I think that is a great benefit too because we both have a had a hard time coping with the place where we were born and coming to accept it as a part of us. We understand each others roots and some of the reasons of why we are who we are.

We met each other while in college. My roommate and him were friends, and so I got to tag along with them. And then my huge crush developed! AHHH!!!! Lucky me, we've now been together for almost a year and a half!<3 <3 <3
