I was wondering where people usually have met their boyfriends/girlfriends? So, I decided to make a poll. Where did you meet your current boyfriend/girlfriend? :)

we initially "met" online when we were teenagers. we met in person through a mutual friend and started actually hanging out (as friends) i'd say about four or five years ago. we hung out constantly since we lived like, half a mile from each other. then after coming out of a very bad relationship, just like in a bad romantic comedy where the chick loves the asshole and doesn't notice the best friend who loves her, i woke up one day and realized i did love him, and we've been together for about two and a half years now.

the first time we saw each other in person i wasn't at all interested. he was interested a long time before i was. as for my interest, one day i just realized it was there and probably had been for a while.

i met him online =] cant remember how exactly, but we just started talking and after a few months [about 6 lol] we met up one day i didnt go into school and went to a bar and had a drink. :) didnt really expect it all to happen!

I met my now-fiance at work, actually!

Everyone says work relationships don't work, but we've proved them wrong ;) When I started with the company I was part of the marketing team, in the "offices" and he was a warehouse guy, down the back. We met only infrequently, only saying a perfunctory "hi" in the hallways (I always thought he was cute, and only later I found out he thought I was hot too). We couldn't have been more different.. I was the polished, suit-wearing, uni-educated professional and he was a pot-smoking ameteur guitarist with long hair down to his back, a goatee beard and piercings everywhere ;)

I had a boyfriend for the first year I worked there so we were never anything but polite to each other, but just prior to the work Christmas party in that first year my boyfriend and I split up... someone told Dale about this, and he decided to come along to the work Chrissy do (which he'd never done before). That night, I was in the mood for some cathartic post-breakup sex with a totally inappropriate guy, and I had my sights set on him. We flirted all night, and ended up kissing in the back of my (very drunk) boss's car while my boss' wife drove us to a local nightclub after the function.

We didn't seperate lips all night, it was a fantastic evening... we even went down to a nearby beach and made out in the sand and ended up with sand everywhere... but, frustratingly, despite all my best efforts, he wouldn't sleep with me that night! :( Damn. Then he became a Challenge.

And thus began the slow getting-to-know the 'real' Dale. And as I did, I was surprised with the person I found... a really sweet, totally loyal guy, who was lots of fun, had a huge circle of friends who welcomed me with open arms... we had more in common than I first gave him credit for.. he may not have been 'book smart' like me but he was savvy in many ways I was not. Plus, we liked the same music, and I loved that he was so sociable and funny... he took my mind off my heartbreak, and eventually that little 'work fling' just developed into something really deep and solid. He left my work after about a year or so after that, so it's no longer a 'work' relationship you could say.

Shit, I've *totally* rambled... so sorry. I am pretty drunk. :D

Oh SLM, thats such a lovely story! I think stories are so much better when people get swept up in the moment of recalling them. :-D

I met my boy, Steve, in a Statistic's tutorial, first year of uni. I had seen him in a few Psych lectures, and thought he was cute... In fact, I had seen him a few times at our local shopping centre, because we both worked in the centre - I mentioned this in our first talk, and I think he thought I was a bit of a stalker!! Anyway, one day, I realised we were in the same class. I never did anything though, because I was too shy. And then, one class, he just happened to sit beside me, and we started talking. I remember, I was shaking so much, because I just thought he was gorgeous! He asked for my number, and the following night, invited me out to coffee after work. We just talked non-stop for 3 hours over one coffee each, until they kicked us out.

2-and-a-bit years later, we're inseperable; and I love it! It was just one of those things; we both knew that we'd be together sooner or later, and everything just clicked; I've never experienced such a... connection before. Steve was meant to go over to Canada a few months after we met, because he had some things to deal with personally, but changed his mind, saying that I had made him so happy, and he didn't want to leave me, and didn't feel like he needed to run anymore. I would have missed him ferociously!

Sigh... I'm so squishy in the tummy after reading this! Great thread Survival0200!

I met my husband at work also;).

He was someone that I had an incredible friendship with through my previous violent/horrible relationship but never thought of in a 'relationship' way until years down the road.

It's nice to have been friends with someone for so long, we never had that 'get to know you' phase in the relationship, it was just a friendship that blossomed into a wonderful relationship when the time was right for both of us.

At his apt. He had a keg, I went with friends. He asked if I was aborted as a fetus. I thought he was funny and interesting.

...And oh yeah, he doesn't even remember this. Beautiful beginnings.

^ haha that made me laugh. =D

I've met the last two guys in the same pub. I've also written a love letter to the bartender on a Quit Gambling coaster and written a limerick on the toilet wall to a love interest there. It's a hotspot of lust and unrequited love. ;)

I met my only long term boyfriend in high school. My best friend's boyfriend had a friend who had never been with a girl, and the two of them were desperately trying to hook him up with someone. After trying a few different girls they figured why not give me a shot, lol. We pretty much clicked and that was that. However, it ended disastrously... twice... :p

I've also met a bf on bluelight, one at a dance club, and a guy I'm trying really hard to get hooked as of late on CraigsList.

Bluelight!

Though he no longer posts and never will again. And if you don't already know, don't ask. :|

In 3 days it will be 10 months. If all goes well we'll be getting married next July.

:)

we met online also. it is kinda sweet actually, i didn't like his pic, but he posted his pics of him snowboarding, and i was tired of lazy men who preferred to just watch football and golf. i needed a change. i stood him up many times, but when we met i really fell for him, he was unbelievably sweet, and an all around nice guy. i had really never met anyone so damn good. we have been together now almost 6 years, married for 4 in august.

At work :). He was the first person I ever saw when I went there for my trial shift (waitressing in a bar) and I thought he was absolutely gorgeous. I developed a massive crush on him but I had a boyfriend. A month into the job I broke up with my bf... A week later we were all hanging around at work after closing the bar getting drunk, and we hooked up :)

believe it or not i met my last fling here on SLR..

pity really... altho she was a nice girl

in high school. he was friends with roughly the same people i was friends with, but i found him to be annoying. junior year we had almost all our classes together and i started talking to him more and more. tho he was dating one of my friends, so i didn't think much of him. but then he broke up with her because she cheated on him and i asked him to the sadie hawken's dance. 7 years later, we are still rather happy :)
