how common is the usage of ritalin as study aid in the USA?

Adderall seems to be the most common one.. Ritalin is around too though, definitely. Its really easy to get.. I go to a psychiatrist once every 3 months to get my 3-month supply of ambien for insomnia and i told her i wanted adderall to help with school and that I only wanted the instant releases so she wrote me a script for 30 10mg IR adderalls a month. And this is an addiction psychiatrist (I saw her a few years ago when I needed a dr to write me a script for suboxone and the hospital doesn't let you change your psychiatrist if you saw an addiction psychiatrist. Anyways, if its that easy with a dr who specializes in addiction and knows my heroin history, its probably 5x more likely for some regular psychiatrist to write you a script for whatever stimulant (aside from desoxyn) you want.
 
^like he said Adderall and d amphetamine are the most common but Ritalin is definitely around, I know they used to prescribe Ritalin more often the Adderall like 15-20 years ago but Adderall is common place especially at universities. When I was in college I knew of kids who didn't drink or use any other drugs who took Adderall because they could get more work done faster with it...

I thought the whole concept to use a medication as study aid is a quite US-american thing? at least here in austria, it would be totally impossible to convince a doctor to give out a prescription for ADHS medication as study aid.
 
^ Yea I've never heard of Ritalin being common in Europe, and know for sure that they rarely prescribe amps there.
