I'm use to taking Percocets (Oxycodone IR / with acetaminophen) , BUT NOW I've got Oxycontin and I get no euphoria or "come up" with it .
Last time I took it, I cut a 40 in 4's (10mg each piece) and parachuted it, then I got kinda dizzy and nauseous and this really weird head buzz. So I went to sleep. It was nothing like what I was use to from Oxy IR.
Why does this happen ?

My tolerance is 10mg max for Oxy IR.

So is 10mg Oxycontin (ER) = 10mg Oxy IR ? If not how do I get it to be the same / effect as IR ??

ER is going to be released over a period of many hours - instead of thinking of it as a 10mg dose, it's more accurate to imagine you're taking 1mg every half hour for 5 hours.

To combat the ER, you should wipe off the coating, and then fully crush the pill up and bomb it.

For the record, last time you did that you were in a mild over-dose situation. Cutting the OxyContin pill into multiple pieces makes it release much more quickly, as nAON said. Oxycontin = oxycodone hcl, no matter what formulation or what it's in combination with. You're lucky you didn't vomit while sleeping (for an example of why that shouldn't be repeated).

You may find you need a higher dose of your ER formulation taken in such a manner to meet the "standard" from the IR, but not 4x the amount.

Good luck, be safe. If you're using them for legitimate pain management, you'll likely find the all-day coverage of the ER nice compared to the ups and downs of constantly re-dosing IR medications.
