How do I have a therapeutic trip?

With regard to psychedelics, how can I make sure that I learn from them? I feel that they are very powerful, and are appreciated, but not in the context that I would like them to be. Most of the time they are taken for fun, and while visuals are fun, it seems that therapeutic use would be much better.

Do your normal dose of whatever. When you are at the peak, get some music from youtube. Search for meditation music or shamanic chanting or something. That works best imho. Then close your eyes, get your headphones on and lay down comfortably.

Then think. Basic things like why am I here, what did I do till now, what is in the past which still bothers the mind, what are the bad experiences in your past, what do you want your life to be like in the future, how is the situation of humanity on earth, what is right and what is wrong, is there anything you regret when you were at the situation of dieing, what is your relation to death, what are your fears, etc etc

I think you get the idea. This kind of trips may not be the most pleasent trips at that moment but after that you could feel better overall, depending on what problems you work with.

Spend time with as little as possible coming into your sensory perceptions (i.e. low lighting, soft or no music, no other people) and see what comes up. If you find yourself avoiding certain thoughts, have a think about what might be causing you to do that.

If there are specific insights that you are looking for, perhaps write them down before you begin so that you can remind yourself of your intentions and consider them fully during the trip. The more detail the better, and remember that you might not get what you look for (you might start wondering why you have these goals for yourself!). Again, just see where the psychedelic takes you and keep an eye on thoughts you automatically try to avoid.

Take care of yourself.

You're the only one who can answer those questions, and the answers that work for you may not work the same way for others.

Many people have reported the psychedelic experience in terms of seeing the world with the eyes of a child: everything is new and delightful.
I use this connection with childhood in order to make my trips meaningful, so that when I think of something I can trace back my thoughts on it as back in time as I can (that is, until my childhood). For example if a question comes to me (Is it ok to tell lies? Am I happy? Is there a god?) I try to remember what I thought of it when I was a kid. Did I change? For better or worse? Why?

That's only an example of how to learn from psychedelics, eventually you'll find out they're just a tool and you're learning everything from yourself.

I got mad therapy last night lol. I made God in my head. It was the same shit that happens when I take 4 aco dmt, I think I'm gay for a little bit, the apocalypse is about to happen, dinosaurs exist and I can feel their carbon in my body, then I realize god exists. Took 20mg of 4acodmt freebase, 50mg of methylone, and 15mg of MXE. It was good. I thought too much of a girl I like right now though, but I'm way more comfortable with myself.

Don't try to force those kind of trips onto yourself. I mean, you can steer it in that direction, hence eLeSaH- "Then think. Basic things like why am I here, what did I do till now, what is in the past which still bothers the mind, what are the bad experiences in your past, what do you want your life to be like in the future, how is the situation of humanity on earth, what is right and what is wrong, is there anything you regret when you were at the situation of dieing, what is your relation to death, what are your fears, etc etc"

But every trip is different, and I feel like when you drop with intentions to "learn something", it doesn't happen. But when you drop randomly and perhaps heavy- ohhhh yeaaaaaaa you learn the universe. =D

there are certainly ways to increase the probability that a trip is more therapeutic than recreational. You should look at the methods section of the recent Johns-Hopkins studies on psilocybin. In short they basically use the "classic" psychedelic psychotherapy method pioneered in the 50s& 60s. The book "The Secret Chief" is also a great resource. Its available in the MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) bookstore {http://MAPS.org}. They have plenty of great resources there. The text is also available online somewhere, i think it might be csp.org but i'm not sure. There's also plenty of material on the subject by stanislov grof. Some googling should yield more info than you'll need :D His book LSD Psychotherapy is also worth a look. Hope that helps!

well in terms of therapy, I find shrooms to be the best. Shrooms is the only psychedelic to me that caused a profound change in my life. A low dose of shrooms can cure depression and "breathe life into you" which can last for months, and in my experience, sometimes will stay with you forever.

lol... yeah they can induce a temporary mid life crisis and make you wonder about your sexuality. and reconnect with "the light" (god).

it's like "i under--stand the cosmic joke!" as opposites merge.

personally, having social phobia, i can trip alone pleasantly and introspectively... but it gets really "therapeutic" if i have somebody with me. that activates my anxiety, and then i have to work through it. an experienced guide is usually very important, as you can literally go anywhere in your head (to places you don't know about at all).

a therapeutic trip is usually a little bit uncomfortable... but be careful when choosing what doors you enter, don't fall into any "black holes of thought", always follow the light and make decisions with it (sometimes you can say, i don't want to go in that door, and that's okay).

thinking about childhood is a really good way to make it therapeutic, but again, when used for healing purposes, there is a lot of energy released in the brain... caution and careful planning is a must. read up on psychedelic therapy, but don't over-think it...

One of the best ways to make it therapeutic is to listen to specific music that makes you think about your life already. Music is obviously already therapeutic and using psychedelics to enhance music appreciation allows people to do a lot of very therapeutic and rewarding music listening. One time I met this one kid who listened to dark side of the moon seven times on an acid trip hahahahahaha
