so I have a question.. i have been doing opiates (started with vicodin) since i was 15.. 6 years later im still doing opiates. not as much but still using (favorite is heroin, started when i was 18.) every now and then like once every month. i can do dilaudid, fentanyl, oxy, or whatever and not feel that good nod at all. i can take a 2-3 month break and take them and not nod.. unless i take that good ol brown, or some opana. i know people have done it way more than me, but i feel like i have a problem. to even get high off vicodin, i need atleast 15 of the 10s. oc i need like 20 of the 10s, dilaudid about 10 of those to stayyyyy high, and fentanyl probably like 100mcg im guessing.

I dont know if its my mind or if its my tolerance..does opiate tolerance stay with you? I know benzo tolerance does but not sure about this. I used to be a heavy user of heroin until about a year ago. and i know 6 years of opiates is not a lot but it felt like it for me. this is the first time i havent used opiates everyday in my whole years of using.

So what im trying to ask is... i have been heavily using opiates for 5 years. I have not been using them heavily for 1. I do them probably once a month. Will my tolerance stay with me forever? And would i qualify to get methadone? =p

Im sure you COULD get methadone... i even read about one guy on here with nothing more then a hydrocodone habit being on methadone... but you have to ask yourself is it worth the insanely long withdrawals and possibly being on it for a looong time since its so hard to come off of? Also if your tolerance now is higher then youd like then watch how much worse it gets on Meth! !

Not if you stop for a good ammount of time. Example- i shot heroin and then stopped for a year except like maybe four times sparadicaly in-between. When i went back to it my tolerance was non existant. But now if i stop for only a week or two it doesbt seem to go down much at all... just takes time man. But if you keep reintroducing opiates into your system even at just once everg week or two itll still go down from dailt use of course but not nearly as much as if you stopped for a few months

Thats my experience at least

i see, so im gonna say its just different for everyone. cause ive tooken a 3 month break and it was like i never stopped using. but i mean, its whatever. im just glad im not into them as much as i used to be

Hi Serenity, tried to send you a private mail, but the system only lets me send email every 3 hour .....

Hi Serenity,
I can relate to you in many ways. I started hydrocodone 9 years ago. I can't speak for anyone but myself, and this is obviously a subjective conversation (which is totally fine). I started hydrocodone for legitimate purposes, and was taking 5mg 4-5x day. Now, I take between 60 and 75 milligrams of oxycodone IR every 4 hours with a 100mcg fentanyl patch. I had a few periods of abstinence, but for me...
I have chronic pain, and along with that has come physical and psychological dependence, in addition to the God forsaken issue of tolerance. If I run out of my bt meds early, I always tell myself that when I get them, Im gonna lower my dose in order to get my tolerance under control. However, When it comes down to it I find it very difficult follow through. I I am sorry I can't offer you any advice... Just be careful. I'm sure you have heard that enough though.
I realize I am rambling, and will stop now. I know that this is a difficult position to bn and I wish you all the best.
