how bad is food grade nitrous?

How bad is it for you if you inhale food grade nitrous from whipped cream cans and you don't use chargers/whipits?

I'm talking about using n2o in moderation not buying tons of cans and huffing them one after the other.

Yup, all works fine. You get very little out of the cans though and have to let the cream de-whip lol... If that makes sense.

I've gone on some serious binges and I think I'm okay... apart from the dull sense of regret the next day.

I think those whipped cream chargers have a lead seal that gets broken... the lead concerns me a bit.

Sounds like you're on the right track... Use in moderation and don't do anything that could lead to asphyxiation.

I've huffed N2O out of whipped cream cans once or twice but I've done the chargers a lot. They felt different to me. I got a nasty sensation that I can only describe as "dirty" from inhaling N2O out of whipped cream cans. I've always gotten much stronger and pleasurable effects from the whipped cream chargers. The cans defiantly work though if that's all your looking for.

Some brand's aren't too good to do in huge amounts in a short period of time - large amounts meaning killing off half a tank or more to your face in one night, which a lot of people have been known to do quite often (that known personally and also have run into them on the boards every once in a while), just because of the other inactive and impure ingredients that are also contained within the whippets or within the tank itself. The dirtiest parts of full tanks are always near the bottom, since those impure/inactive chemicals are generally heavier than nitrous itself (all of them, actually, I don't believe there is any exception to the rule, but I'm not 100% on that). You can usually tell when a tank is getting REAL close to the empty mark when it starts tasting somewhat worse. If the tank is medical grade it wont have that negative aspect to it.

But anyway, if youre only doing low-to-moderate & average amounts of food grade during a days period, you don't need to worry too much. Only the worst brands would actually give negative effects for so little usage.

I dont recommend ISI brand N2O it has some sort of oil contamination inside the 12 gram packs.

If you're going to do nitrous recreationally from the whipped cream canisters (whipits) then get the high quality stuff like Purewhip or SFG and order a "Nitrokit" which filters out any gunk that goes into the whipped creme dispenser. You can expand the gas into the dispenser and then breathe it in directly from the dispenser as the gas isn't too cold once it's been expanded. Just most brands have this nasty oil stuff that makes you nauseous and is probably hell on your lungs, but if you get a high quality brand and you use NitroKit then you shouldn't get much contaminants.
