Misc how bad are inhalants?:

Inhalants are really bad for you. Have you ever seen that show Intervention? There was a woman on it that was so, so damaged by huffing computer keyboard cleaner. I really suggest you dont mess around with inhalents.

I shouldn't recommend it but try looking online for research chemicals if you need to get high legally. Thats really all the you have left as an option if alcohol and other drugs are not things you can use legally.

But I must stress that you don't go down the drug route. I did very recently due to boredom and Im not having a great time coming off stuff.

Really though, you need to reconsider your approach to life as with this 'fuck it get messed up at any cost' attitude you will suffer and die eventually, sooner rather than later. /obligatory preaching

This. However, it's important to remember that that attitude is often not "get messed up at any cost' as much as "I genuinely don't care whether or not I wake up, so what's the point in being careful?" I believe the OP has been hinting toward the latter here; however, if s/he were sincere about it, there would be no reason to take the time to post about and discuss it on BL. Further--and this is far more important--the OP gives a shit about quality of life, because s/he is going way out of the way to get high without further legal woes. So the only conclusion is that the OP does not have a death wish. But when s/he is being this obstinate, finding the motivation to continue to warn of the dangers of inhalants is a chore.

The one thing I will say: if you think you're in the "I don't care if I wake up" category…at the very least, everyone here that has ever been neck deep (ESPECIALLY with opiates, although the OP did not specifically mention), has been there. It's not real; it doesn't last. It's not a reflection on how shitty your life is; it's a reflection of just how potent and consuming these chemicals are; the dependency takes priority over even worrying about personal safety. So please, please do not end up in cardiac arrest because you don't think your life matters enough to give a shit. No one's life is worth less than a fucking aerosol can.

citizenuzi and rednosed have put it really well.

It's hard, or impossible, to see outside hell when you're stuck in it. That's when you need other people around who know the place well to tell you that a lot of is illusion. Specifically the parts where you think you've lost all control over your own life, and it makes no difference at all what you do. That is the biggest lie you can convince yourself of, and it leads to shit getting worse. Just when you think it can't get worse, you find out it can. And self-neglect will take you down, down, down to the bottom and beyond.

Lemongaga, you're typing coherently and that means you've got enough lucidity about you to be within reach. If you can make your way out of the darkness, you could become invaluable to people around you who need help out themselves. You've gone far into the abyss, but not so far you can't come back.

Best wishes to you, and I believe you'll make it out.

yah i dont care if i wake up but if i do i dont want the damage

Oh my, this is the one drug that no one is exaggerating the dangers of.

I have been a nurse for a very long time and for awhile I worked in a childrens rehab hospital (not rehab as in drugs, rehab as in these kids had major physical injuries and brain damages and needed long term, intense, inpatient care that hopefully would help them return to some type of a semblance of a normal life).
We had SOOO many kids come through there (this was about 10 years ago) that had used inhalants. Some had minor brain damage, many of them died but the very very worse ones were when they would come in around the age of my own son, 14 or 15 or 16 and would now be like 3 year olds for the rest of their lives. We had to feed them baby food, change their adult diapers all day long as the shit and peed themselves and they had no functioning higher than a small toddler. It was really sad when their friends from school who had just been partying with them a couple of weeks ago would come to see them, see what had happened and never ever want to come around them again..I mean, who wants to hang out with a 16 year old sized kid who drools on themselves so much we put a bib on them and had to change their clothes 5 or 6 times a day and wore shitty diapers who could not carry on a conversation anymore.

I am not talking about something that happened every once in awhile but ALL the time. It happened so often that the use of it actually started to decrease because so many kids were seeing this happen to their friends. Some of these kids had done it many times before this happened but some of them had only tried it once or twice..and that was as frequent as the ones who had used it 20 times when it happened. So this is from personal experience .

There ARE worse things than dying. Once you are in that state of brain damage you no longer have the capacity to figure out how to kill yourself and besides, you are constantly being cared for by someone so there is no escape for a very long time.

Pretty much the worst shit. inhalants such as albuterol and dust off cause severe freeze and chemical burn trauma to the lungs chemicals absorbed into blood circulates thru organs absorption drastically slowed do to freezing effect...nitrous oxide is similar...aerosol axe and Lysol etc. Will probly allow high concentrations of ammonium or other nasties to absorb thru blood brain damage organ failure eye sight loss will occur

What do you mean albuterol?? Albuterol is a drug (medication) designed to be inhaled into the lungs for medical reasons (such as asthma, COPD, emphysema etc). It doesnt cause any damage like the types of inhalants that are being discussed here....

Okay man. You say your not a teen yet you wont release your age range, you say you wont fuck with alcohol because of legal issues. Alcohol doesnt stay in your blood and hair for more than 7 days, even less for your urine. So why huff inhalants. N20 is wonderful and the only inhalant i will use. why dont you get a credit card and order Hbwr seeds , morning glories seeds, san pedro cactus , yopo seeds,Kava, kratom, Dxm containing syrups and pills, any research chemical your heart desires , a plethora of dmt containing plants , syrain rue , OR EVEN FUCKING BENADRYL!. Stop using inhalants you are hurting yourself beyond repair. You wanna feel high 24/7 try Valerian root / syrain rue and/or benadryl, for relaxation and kava or kratom for stimulation. There is so many alternatives out there. Even ether.. I promise you in your house their is 10 things that could get you high that wont hurt you as bad as what your doing.

I cant stress enough how true and non-exaggerated the above story I related is...the more I thought about your post through the evening the more I thought about this and you.
I have done a lot of drugs through out my life time and am also opiate/opioid dependent/addict. I honestly never judge anyone for their choice of drugs and not just as a health care professional as I was when I worked at that hospital but also just as a regular old person who has very liberal ideas when it comes to drug use, I cannot put into words to express how bad the effects of inhalants are and what all I saw. I am serious, this is just one chance you dont want to take. If you keep using inhalants then somewhere along the way...and it is a matter of when not if...you will develop brain/neurological issues or die.

If you are not a teenager living at home with your dad (or even if you are) then you will understand the concept that there are definitely worse things than dying. Could you imagine being locked into your body as a baby or infant and have no control ever again over yourself, your bodily functions or anything else in this world. It is not an existence that I would wish upon anybody...and unless you see someone like this in person it is much worse than you can just imagine without the personal experience of seeing it. Like when you see those people in a wheelchair that obviously are in their 20s but they are just like a big, grown up body that is really just a one year old? You know, the ones that many people have a hard time even looking at when they see them?

I just remember when I worked there that even though I had always heard that there was a danger of brain damage from inhalants I would never have been prepared for how often it happened or what the actual consequences were. I, like you assumed it was like most drugs and the effects are often exaggerated but, in the case of inhalants, I had never heard enough about what could happen in comparison to the reality. Definitely start looking for an alternative..I dont know what that might be because I dont understand what your personal situation is..if you wish to PM me we could discuss it more if you are more comfortable ..or not..just please look into some alternatives. I know you said you dont really care about life at this point...but trust me, if something like this were to happen to you...well, life can be much worse and seem much more never ending.

You know what, I was not being 'judgemental or stupid'. I answered the questions that you asked. What is the point in asking a question if you don't like the answer?? You have created such a response here from people who really care. And why should they because you don't. You say you are not a teen but you sound like a spoiled little brat, so you know what go ahead! Enjoy your brain damage, you silly, ungrateful little kid.

Inhaling non medical inhalants (basically anything that is not nitrous oxide or amyl or butyl nitrate) is far more dangerous then using Amphetamines so i don't know how you could possibly think that is a improvement. Amphetamines such as dextroamphetamine or Methamphetamine are without a question really bad for your brain when used in high doses especially over extended periods of time but compared to the damage that inhaling glue, gasoline, paint, etc causes it's pretty benign. I used to sniff glue for abit when i was maybe 11 years old because this was long before erowid or anything or even before i had the net and i did stop right away once i figured out how stupid and dangerous it was. Here in some of the really isolated Native communities in Canada inhalant abuse is rampant and it is very sad to see kids of such a young age basically killing themselves by sniffing gas, glue or whatever just to escape their horrible existence. It's a drug of last resort more or less because if they could get anything better they would not be at that shit i don't think. I consider myself lucky to not have had anything happen to me during my brief period of being a complete retard.

Besides the obvious brain damage that inhalants cause one sniff can literally stop your heart. I know that up in communities where gas sniffing is a real problem they tell social workers and the like to not confront anyone intoxicated on inhalants as it can cause their blood pressure to increase and kill them instantly. I think it's called sudden sniffing death syndrome. I know computer duster is one of the inhalants that commonly cause the users to die due to cardiac problems. Even a scary hallucination from being high on the stuff cause cause a heart attack in someone that is otherwise in good health.

All this may sound like some DARE bullshit made to scare people but you need only look it up for yourself to see how dangerous using inhalants are. The only way to reduce the harm caused by inhalants is to not use them at all as noone in good conscious could possibly tell you that inhalant abuse is anything other then suicide. If you want something to inhale that causes a awesome high why not try nitrous oxide which one can easily get in whippets or even whipped cream cans. It is a awesome high and as long as you take vitamine B-12 with it it is one of the safer drugs out there.

THATS the woman from intervention! If that video doesn't change your mind, I don't know what will.

No doubt. I felt really sorry for that chick, and why the fuck no one would take it away, stop filming and throw her ass in the psyche ward I have no idea. But I've never actually seen the whole episode, just the few clips of basically the same thing on the internet. Apparently she's actually doing pretty good now tho according to this. Pretty surprised...

I was out in this tall grass with a buddy sniffing solvent and had passed out with my face in the rag of toulene. My buddy came out of his dream state and saw me and woke me up. When I sat up I started pukeing white chunks. He thought I was a slot machine and reached out for the gold coming out of my mouth shouting gold, gold. I had to push him away. I was laying on the rag for so long that I was chemically burnt and loss the skin on half my face

I've read somewhere (maybe erowid) that even one session of propane huffing can cause permanent brain damage, I believe that applies to most of the other inhalants.
if you need to be high and sedated all the time there are way better drugs eve if you have legal issues. maybe try looking into RCs or DXM, they're legal and (relatively) safe
