I find that an aspect LSD hallucinations is that they can be easily influenced by suggestion. Me and a friend used to trip a lot together and we'd often watch tv static at some point during the trip (seriously, try it). We'd find that if one of us talked about the images we were seeing in the static the other would very quickly see the same images - not really the same of course, but images based one what the other person was describing. More than once it got the point where we found it impossible to believe that the images weren't objectively there, and they must be a faint ghost of a broadcast from some spectral tv channel. Tre fun.
Another good reason not to trip alone is to have some company during the hours either side of the peak. Me and my friend (and sometimes one or two others) wouldn't communicate much during peak of the trip, but had some great conversations on the way up and the way down. The time after the trip is substantially over but before you can sleep can be pretty damn boring when you're alone I find.
