Yeah I went to the doctor and got a split I could remove when I wanted to. I was referred to a hand specialist, but I rescheduled my appointment because I was about to go camping at the beach and I wanted to be able to get in the water and I wouldn't have been able to with a cast. I actually barely wore the split during the camping trip, I just was careful with my hand. When I got back and went to my specialist appointment, it had been 2 weeks since I broke it and I felt significantly healed already. The specialist recommended surgery where they would put a rod in my hand. He said they'd have to re-break it and the recovery time would be 10-12 weeks. I told the doctor that I wanted to sleep on it before I decided, because I had a bad feeling about having such a permanent surgery for something that wasn't really bothering me too bad. So I told him NOT to schedule me. He said okay. Then that night after the doctor's office had closed I received a call (I missed it so they left a message) that my pre-op appointment was scheduled for the next morning, first thing. I talked to a variety of people including someone I know who had a surgery where they put rods in, and everyone seemed against it, especially the person who had that surgery, they said that 20 years later it still acts up and gets sore.
The next morning I called the doctor's office over and over starting an hour and a half before my appointment. No one would answer. Finally I got ahold of someone right before my appointment (my appointment was scheduled for as soon as they opened). I told the person who answered that I was canceling the appointment, and that I actually had never even made it and felt forced into this. She said she'd tell the doctor and that I was good. But then later that day (again after they closed so I couldn't call back, and again I was working so I missed the call), they called back and said I had missed the appointment but that was okay, they were going to send the paperwork and I could just show up to my surgery, which they had scheduled for a week from then. I called back multiple times over the next few days, but no one ever answered but I left a detailed message each time saying that I was not going to do the surgery because I didn't want it and had never signed up for it. No one ever called me back. FINALLY, a couple of days before the supposed surgery, I finally got an answer and told the person I was not doing the surgery, and that I was feeling weirdly forced into it. She said okay, I am removing you from the books right now.
Well, that time it worked, I didn't get any more calls. However, about week after that, I received a bill for a skipped pre-op appointment. I was like oh hell no... I called them and told them I wouldn't be paying and I was very disturbed by how weirdly they handled it and how they directly did the opposite of what I told them and scheduled me for surgery I didn't want or ask for. I never got another bill or call from them.
It was fucking weird, they're surgery pushers.

I'm so glad I didn't do it as my hand healed fine, and now, 9 months later, it feels fine. I mean I can still tell it's slightly different from the other hand, nice QUITE as strong, not QUITE as flexible. When I make a fist the pinkie on my right hand crossed over slightly into the path of the ring finger, but I barely even notice it. It works perfectly normally for everything I do. I was right, I didn't need the surgery. Plus I was told that it would still be less strong and flexible with the surgery, it just would curl up perfectly straight. 8)
