What I find funny is the amount of people that feel the need to stick up for their taste of music. I used to be one of those but you just realise music (as well as all aspects of life) is beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Someone doesn't like your taste in something, that's their loss. well arent i lucky i enjoy dub reggae hiphop drum&bass breaks house techno minimal trance prog fucken whatever else there is not to mention shit that isnt dance music.

purists are the absolute worst of all. what a sheltered existence.

purists are worse than people who listen to up-front commercial r&b grooves. even that shit isnt all bad all the time.

1st, one thing is for sure, melbourne and perhaps other cities too.. the nightspot scene really has to improve in its selection of music. too often do i hear music being played when it just doesnt suit. and too often in cafes or bars they play old cds that someone obviously left with them ages ago and no one cares to get some new tunes.

2nd, given that the 'real' or 'quality' dance scene isnt very big and certainly isnt stable, i think we should be realistic and stop complaining about house, and worry about maintaining the other sounds. richness is in diversity, for sure. let people decide for themself. you cant stop people from listening to house. it fucken rocks. as long as it is QUALITY house, it is worth listening to. same goes for acid techno. and everything else.

we should form a united front against the disseminence of bad quality music. its criminal.
