Hotel Tripping

So, A few friends of mine came up with some mushrooms and acid lately. Unfortunately, all of us live with our parents (college students) and really have no place to take them.

I came up wit the idea of renting a night in a hotel for us. I live in San Diego, and there is a wonderful skyline here. So I thought I would buy a room in one of the more upscale downtown hotels.

But, another friend of mine (who would not be joining us) said that it was a bad idea, as he and friends of his had tripped in such an environment before, and said that they had a bad time because they were certain that their building was swaying wildly and they were going to die.

Basically, my question is this: Have any of you guys tripped in a semi public place like a hotel before, and if so, did you have a good time with it? Im making sure that this is not a common problem before I commit my friends (one of whom will be experiencing acid for the first time) to a night swinging in the sky.

just bring some good music, or something else to entertain yourself with besides the TV. I've had some of my best trips at least partially in hotels, usually after a concert of some sort. In fact, i've come to permanently associate hotel style patterns on bedspreads, carpet, & wallpaper with psychedelics. Also, you can always go check out downtown if you guys get tired of being in the room, for whatever reason. And i've never felt like the building was swaying. In fact, the last two times i tripped in hotels i was on the 14th & 19th floors of the Millenium Hotel in St. Louis, & Cincinnati, respectively. No swayage

Thats about what I figured. I wasnt worried about it, but I wanted to cover m bases. I feel responsible when bringing yung'uns into the wonderful world of psychadelics.

Your trip always has a chance (big or small) of being bad .

But I don't think it would happen being in a upscale hotel in San Diego .

That's my dream lol. To get out of Canada to Cali and live in a hi rise .

So for me the trip would be awsome

I've never done it, but I'm infatuated with the idea of tripping in a hotel. Nearly every time I trip I find myself thinking about it. I think it has to do with a hotel room being free of personal associations, almost like a temporary autonomous zone. It's a space to start a brand new relationship with. Also, endless hallways, rooms, carpets, and other decorations. Definitely lots of cool patterns and visual experiences.

I'm jealous.

I've tripped in complete public a number of times and thoroughly enjoyed it. Probably depends a lot on your mindset though - I'm always fairly confident nobody would know and thus don't get paranoid or have a bad trip. Never tripped in an actual hotel (though I agree it sounds fun) but have done it in highrise apartments before and it was fantastic. If you've got a good vista it's pure visual bliss =D Enjoy!

just like everybody is sayin its set and setting. I personally would not suggest the hotel as your only option. I tripped with a three friends on NYE this year and we used our hotel room as a home base so to speak. It can be very comforting on a trip to know that there is a place that you can so back to that is safe, drama free, and comfortable. Also it really is never a good idea to confine yourself to one place while on a trip, it is a journey that will take you where you let it. go explore it.

I took one hit and then went skiing with my friends who are all like "drug are bad" and shit, none of them could tell I was tripping, and at the resort I popped two more hits. Skiing on acid for me was fun, but I definitely don't recommend it for people who aren't experienced with skiing and psychedelics. In fact, you should probably be relatively experienced with both or else it's gonna suck.

Why don't you just use the hotel as a place to regather as people mentioned? That way you can hang out in the hotel, if it doesn't tickle your fancy go out exploring and know where to go to be able to find everyone again. Being contained in a building doesn't sound like much fun on psychs.

My wife and I first took mushrooms in a hotel room, albeit in Amsterdam. It was just the two of us, but we mostly a great time. The hotel didn't sway at all, although the room seems to change proportions somewhat and the walls were breathing - however this is a fairly common experience on psychedelics so we were expecting it, and it didn't faze us at all.

You're friends are lucky to have someone checking up this sort of stuff for them, even though you thought the swaying unlikely to be a common experience. I imagine you'll cater for them quite well. As others have said bring music and other stuff to entertain yourselves. Gently redirecting someone's attention is usually the best way to get them out of a bad place.

A first timer probably won't want to go exploring public places to start with as it could be too overwhelming. One thing you could do is have the first timers take the mushrooms (shorter duration) and then those more experienced still tripping on LSD could later venture out if they so desire? Either that or delay your doses so you can guide them through the peak until they're comfortable, which you may wish to do in any case?

Come to terms right now with the fact that you are going to want to leave that room and go exploring. Just ensure that you're not too fucked that you can't handle a security situation or the like if something goes wrong. I've tripped in hotels before and it's a fucking amazing time. I went for a swim once but couldn't wrap my head around being immersed in a liquid... it kept not making sense to me how I could be displacing molecules yet still be wet... it was fucking with my head too much so I had to get out, hahaha. All in all, it's a relatively safe place to trip... if you start acting weird, most people will just assume you're drunk.

All in all, it should be a great trip. Let us know how it goes!

I second the idea to go camping. Tripping in nature on mushrooms is fun!

I've never tripped in a hotel but I preferred to do it at home, at a good friend's house, or in nature.

I agree with the person above me that you're going to want to leave the hotel and explore SD while tripping.

I will definitely agree with the nature statement. Tripping in nature is ALWAYS better than in any synthetic environment, bar none.

Screw those guys, do eet! Especially if you don't ever really stay in a hotel. Just scope it out before you're taking off or it can be a little hard, stuff that the hotel has that you'd likely be interested in etc. Completely random adventures in a hotel can get kind of hard, depending on who you run into. Best to at least know where you're going. (Pool, spas, food, bar, that sorta crap)
