No offense taken. And yes they do accept it as an occupational hazard because this was the DEA agent guys second stay there at the facility. He was there once 7 years ago and I know this is true because the staff even remembered him and this was talked about. He got his same job back once after a 28 day inpatient treatment.jr0k said:@lee Sorry, I worded that poorly. I was asking hypothetically, "I wonder if you're(as in someone, not you specifically) a DEA agent who gets addicted..." I was meaning to ask if an undercover agent who ends up getting addicted to drugs through having to do them to perform his job would be penalized through his job for it in anyway, or if they would just accept it as an occupational hazard. I in no way meant to imply that you yourself were a cop by any means. Sorry for the confusion... Thanks for the stories from the guy though.
One of the last things he said to me was that he was not going back to his job because he could not stay clean, it was out of the question in an environment like that. He said he was going to take his large family(he had like 7 kids) to Saudi Arabi and work for his father. I don't know what his father did.
He was just one of the characters in that place. there were many more, all of them had interesting stories. one of the more interesting ones was a dentist who ended up in 28-day treatment because he got caught croaking prescriptions for vicoden to HIMSELF. He lost his dental practice license and went on quite a binge before landing in detox. Real intelligent guy, I enjoyed his stories as well.
My memories of detox and the people there are so vivid.
