Horrible experience after waking up after usage

Hey guys.

I've been doing MDMA fairly regularly for about 4-5 months now, maybe once every 2-3 weeks roughly, maybe binging more at some points and cooling off a bit at other times.

Today I decided to take a nap, I forgot to set an alarm so ended up sleeping for about 2 and a half hours. The last point of my dream I remember is a small cat/kitten crawling up my back under my t-shirt and purring and vibrating on me. Suddenly I woke up, and continued to feel the vibration on my bed. I panicked and I saw about a ten inch insect (which looked like a mix between a cockroach and a centipede) crawl across my bed quite slowly.

Immediately I jumped out of bed and started to scream the house down, I looked at it again and the vibrating continued. Next time I looked it had then turned into what looked like a black bird nustled in my quilt, cooing quite loudly and vibrating as if it was dying. I ran over, moved the quilt and it moved with it and I was positive I wasn't dreaming.

Next thing I'm running around my house naked, screaming and banging on all my housemates doors to help me remove a dying bird from my room. We came back into my room and it was gone.

I've heard about people seeing things before they fall asleep after using MDMA, but not upon waking up. Is this anything to do with the usage of MDMA? I love the drug and I'd hate to have to stop taking it because this was quite a terrifying experience and I'd hate for it to happen again.

Cheers guys.

Just to clarify, this didn't happen while I was under the influence of MDMA. It's Saturday and the last time I rolled was Wednesday night.

My drug experience includes lots and lots of MDMA, 2 LSD trips, a fair number of mushroom trips and whatever other drugs were in the dirty pills I had over the years.

The psychedelics and dirty pills are now years behind me, and MDMA is 5.5 months behind me.

For years now since using drugs I've had waking hallucinations; I never had them before drug use. They occur right in the margin from when I wake up from a deep sleep and before I am fully awake. They don't occur every night, but they are not uncommon. They are of two varieties: The first kind is when an object such as the TV, a painting, a clock, etc appear as something totally different than what it is....for example the other night a wall painting of a train appeared as a picture of Jesus.

The other variety is that as soon as I open my eyes I will see a 3D object suspended in mid-air that quickly vanishes into thin air.

In both cases the hallucination is very very short lived - perhaps only 1 to 2 seconds but it is very vivid. I usually have a surreal feeling at the same time, but it is not scary. The 2nd type of hallucation where I see things in mid-air has basically disappeared over time the longer I stayed away from drugs. The first type happens less and less often, but it still does show up from time to time.

The lasting visual disturbance is that pictures of clouds in a still photo or image now slowly "move" across the screen, always from right to left. That one is actually kind of cool. For example, if I look at a picture of a tornado on my computer screen, I see it "move" across the screen even though it stays in the same spot.

I dunno if this helps.

the only thing i know of close to that was my (now) wife's first experience. we came down and were sleeping on the couch, and about every 5-10 minutes she would wake up and sit up real quick and look around bewildered and mutter something. i had to coax her back to sleep every time so needless to say i didnt get much sleep. also, after my 2nd time i had a weird experience with dreams. if you would like to know more let me know ill post the link to the story bc its kind of long lol.

fuck now I dont want to go to sleep for fear of a centipede crawling on my back.

Anyway, I've had a few of those and they seem to be directly correlated to increased times of mental or physical stressors in my life

Have you ever heard of lucid dreaming? I have recently experienced it twice and it scares the shit out of me (although apparently some people want to experience it). It has happened in the past couple months. I use mdma and sometimes I experiment with other stuff but I use m the most regularly.

5-HTP apparently can trigger lucid dreaming (that's what happened to me once)
coke + sleeping pills can too

Anyway I don't even know if that's what it was or if it was part of it but I'm scared to go to sleep too.
Maybe look into it?

it could be a night terror, which are not uncommon.

also, i have woken up to intense hallucinations, not where i see an object but my reality it extremely distorted and terrifying, playing off of my fears. usually dissipates after 5 min-ish. thats been happening since before i started taking drugs as well. Tons of people have strange things happen like this, its really not all that uncommon and most likely nothing to worry about.

Vancbc, I have the EXACT same type of hallucinations but usually when I am actually on mdma and really messed up. I'll feel like I'm coming out of some lucid dream state and I'll see something for a few seconds and then it disappears.

I saw my dogs head in mid air, and I actually called out to him immediately, and then his head dissolved and I was staring at a plant. Very strange. Also, once on the beach, upon coming out of that strange state, I saw that a pole was a giant female's leg with reebok-like shoes on. And also, I reached out for a pack of cigarrettes that disappeared in my hands. Floating heads happen the most though for me.

This has always intrigued me, I am never afraid when it is happening, just confused.

I think mdma can cause it but I've had it two times completely sober.

Im going to go with Lucic Dreaming, thats happened to me a few times. I've actually seen my dream after waking up. I was once laying on my couch and there was balloons in my dream, I woke up and down my hallway was some balloons floating across the hallway. Kinda scary if you not use to it.

I'm saying your crazy, sorry to be blunt but I know a shitload of people who do more than too many drugs. And none of them have had anything bordering on that. You should go see a shrink dude.

It's not lucid dreaming and I strongly doubt it is a drug effect.

It sounds to me like a hypnogogic hallucination. They are more common when falling asleep than when awakening, but they do happen.

It is not always indicative of a problem - they do happen normally, although it's more likely if you are stressed or sleep deprived. It can occasionally be a symptom of narcolepsy.

I would not worry about it.
