Horrible constant headaches

Hi xtcgirrrl

IME with headaches and people I have known as well, Tylenol Rapid release seems to be the number one OTC headache medication that relieves the headaches. Advil is another one and you can also try Excedrin to see if that helps alleviate the headache.

I have been getting migraines for 24 of my 31 years alive. When i was younger id get them frequently but werent super horrible, i mean id get sick and all, but when i got older they became less frequent but waaay more sereve. At this point i have identified all my triggers. Certain food for example anything with high sulfites or tyramine, found in aged foods and other things. There is the weather, barometric pressure changes, i can feel when its about to rain lol. Hormones play a role, tho im a dude so thats not a big issue haha.

For me if i can catch it before it starts (i usually get aura or eye wiggles or other neuro symptoms i know mean a migraine is coming) 600mg of ibuprofin will stop it. But once its gone full blown, as im sure you well know, you feel like you want to rip parts of your brain and neck out lol. Immitrex is my goto standard just bc of the crappy health insurance i have. Ive had relpax and its great. Faar better than immitrex. There are other triptans, zomitriptan, rizatriptan and maybe a few others. They are all way over priced, and i mean like 20 a pill without insurance.

The best remedy ive had is the immitrex nasal spray. Its like one measured dose in one little burst. I jam that thing up my left nostril and within minutes i can feel the blood vessels start to slowly cease from pounding. Do that along with like 2mg of xanax which i also have an rx for, but valium is by far the best bc it has great muscle relaxing properties.

As for otc stuff, loperamide wont help, as opikates dont really do shit for migraines and will actually sometimes cause rebound headaches so they arent very common for true migrainers. Tylenol and ibuprofin together work, also sudaphed works too in small doses (the real stuff, not the new phenylphrine crap) also excedrin migraine isnt bad, its basically tylenol with caffeine.

Ginger root will help with the nausea, or ginger ale. Staying well hydrated also keeps them in check.

And if you are totally sol with emergency stuff like immitrex and relpax, you could try a preventative med. They range from betablockers to antiseizure med. Im not a dr by any means i just play one on BL lol.

But talk to your dr and ask lots of questions, i know some drs are like yea yea its a bad headache but its like fuck you, have you ever had one? I tie a belt around my head and will press really hard on pressure points on my head and neck. I had a massage during a bad migraine and it actually went away. I was amazed.

Migraine.com has lots of good info, i know how much they suck, id rather go thru day 2 of iv dope wd than have a day with a bad migraine. Best of luck to you, and remember, you are paying your dr, you should get results!

I never had headaches so I have no idea if this might work for you, but a guy on nat geo swears by shrooms for his migraines. You might want to give that a try.

Bad dental hygiene can cause random, migraine-intensity headaches, or days of dull, throbbing pain. If you know you have bad teeth, get them checked. I was misdiagnosed with migraines when rotting teeth were the root (harhar) of the problem (I don't get "normal" toothaches, ever).

Yes barometer pressure causes my migraines. So does hormones such as when my period is going to happen. I dunno about foods but that is likely I just haven't tested it out.

I'll try Exedrin Migraine and 600 mg ibuprofen. I have Reglan for the nausea, prescribed by my neurologist. I would love to try out Xanax or Valium, but I can't get either as I used to be addicted to Xanax. Crap.

We are somewhat similar, I do experience head pressure before my period but not as intense as you are experiencing. I have read that a few days before the period sugar and salt should be cut back. Eating healthy actually benefits to our entire body so it definitely wouldn't hurt to change your diet. Let us know how it goes with your appointment and what has helped your symptom.

Ugh...and of course i ended up getting one...started about an hour ago and took ibuprofin. Have to be aat work at 630...fuuuuuuck. i dont want to take any immitrex.

a shitload of caffeine + a shitload of water + heat applied to neck and shoulders
is all that remotely helps my headaches.
tylenol's for babies or liver disease..but no help with headaches..
but that's just imo, obviously.
good luck.
