Opioids Hoping Tolerance Will Die Down (Fentanyl)

Hello, it has been a while.

Up until a week or two ago, I was smoking fentanyl on an almost daily basis. Before I started to mess with fentanyl this time around, my tolerance to opiates was always really low. It would only take me 15mg - 20mg of hydrocodone to get me feeling really nice. At the end of my 2 month or so sprint with fentanyl however, I was going through a 100 mcg/h patch within 2-3 days. I would smoke the gel about 4-5 times a day, doing several hits each time.

I've been clean for a week or two now, (surprisingly, no physical withdrawal; just missed it A LOT) and I know it will take more time for my tolerance to go back down.

My question is: After my tolerance went that high, will I ever be able to indulge in low doses of hydrocodone and such and get a similar effect as I would before? How long would it take to get back to that level if it's possible?

I know that each person has different experiences will tolerance, but if you've been through the same type of thing, share your experience with me or ball park it so I can see a few stories / assumptions from several different people.

I don't want to say goodbye to opiates - They're the only drug I truly enjoy, and can mostly control myself with them.

Thanks.

From what I understand every persons reaction to opiate usage varies, but i was on 75mg/h fent patches + percs for almost a year I was also recreationaly using other opiates for the inbetweens. I can say that after a full year of heavy opiate use that my brain took around 6-8months even come close to the tolerance I was before I started. However I can't say it dropped all the way down. I didn't consume any opiates during downtime. I would think that for a 3month habit you'd need 2-3 months of non-use to return to anything resembling your original tolerance. Fentanyl is a particularly potent opioid. You actually did yourself a favor by not using the patch as intended because then your tolerance would have skyrocketed as your brain would have fentanyl 24hrs/day. I remember fentanyl withdrawl and it was the only withdrawl that caused me to go to the ER.

I've heard this term connected to opioid usage. The amount of time you spent walking into the woods will be the amount you spend comming back out. I believe it has some general meaning probably moreso in recovery than in tolerance issues but it's safe to say that however long you use you'll have to stop for that amount of time to fully recover physically from it. "Generally the brain is healed 90% after 6months of non-usage but the other 10% can take up to 3 years." I have also heard this spoken before in relevance to opioid recovery.

On a sidenote if you do stop for a period of time only to use later on make sure to titrate, starting with a small amount and control what you ingest. I've known friends who have stopped 4-6month H habits just to get back on the wagon and OD because they started where they left off. Best of luck.

itll probably never drop back to the way it was at first, but if you stay clean long enough itll come very close.

only problem is once you start up again it comes back super fast.

Thanks for the input...

But I tried something tonight, I did 210mg of codiene just to ward off the want to use anything harder...

Surprisingly as hell, not only did I feel it, but I got a really nice high from it. I guess I'm just a lucky guy in terms of opiate tolerance. Tiger blood, man. =D
