Looking out at this world
Through an imagined barrier,
My face pressed up against the glass.
I've always maintained that
I've been screaming right in your fucking face.
It seems you can't hear me
Either because of the glass
Or perhaps because I am not really making a sound at all.
Either way,
It's nobody elses fault.
Behind these mottled blue eyes
Staring with bewilderment at the world
Resides a quietly amazed and horified child.
Still reeling in agony
From the hard lessons of life.
Slowly as the glass crumbles
In tandem with all my greatest delusions,
I realise that there is no glass at all,
Only my twisted imagination.
As reality claws it's way in,
disrupting my comfortable fantasies
I try to curl up tighter
But deep down I know that soon
I will be naked for all to see.
A small and timid man
Undressed and relieved of all his teenage agony
And in time
Ready to love unconditionally.
Here's to the future. Peace.
