Decidedly decent heading towards oh shit!!
Hi, honey!!! I'm home, too! Long story short, worked with the developmentally disabled for 15 years...a job that is tremendously destructive/degenerative on your muscles, bones, joints, EVERYTHING...depending on their need level, cognitive functioning, etc. I worked 7 days a week...full-time at a 55 client enrollment day habilitation program serving the developmentally disabled, and 24 hours a week at an 8-bed state operated group home operated by the state of Massachusetts. At my part-time job with the state, I got my right foot caught in the last loop of the Hoyer slings placed underneath the fully disabled to facilitste trasfer to/from wheelchair and bed. Four staff there that night, including myself. I was alone with this gentleman, as I was not ready for the assistance of another staff to transfer him to his bed. I laid in the fetal position until I felt I could get up on my own. Muscles are warmed up after 16+ hours of work, so I said, "C'mon, Donna walk it off!" I had seen WAY too many "play" the system for a back injury, a few days off, some painkillers, and other scenarios. I refused to do that. HUGE MISTAKE!!! Since I worked for the state, had a union, retirement, and excellent benefits, my noble and chivalrous act got me nowhere. Five years down the road, after working on it non-stop until it became a bone-on-bone situation,my orthopaedist had to perform total right knee replacement at 45. I have been on Codeine...SUCKED...Percocet...decent above 10 mg, Tramadol (which requires 5-6 50 mg tabs to feel decent. Fentanyl is AWESOME,, but above 50 mcg/hr is SCARY!!! I have NO idea how these posts got split, but it is NOT the hydromorphone talking. Hope all is well in Momland and we can trade stories sometime when the kids are otherwiseoccupied and there isn't anything particularly decent on Lifetime or cable in general for that matter!!
