In an igloo made of asbestos and chicken-wire.
I came home after a long time at sea,
and I found there's water here as much as there is anywhere.

The sea meets the shores here, I just never noticed it before. And I have found that everyone had dreams that grew without me in them. Nobody needed me to live while I was gone.

How do I adjust to that? How do I find myself in your life when you've found your life without me in it? Is there space for me to fit, or do I take those tired old fantasies and cork them in a bottle? Maybe set adrift they'll find someone that needs them more on the other side of the ocean. Maybe they'll lead me back to where I birthed them, maybe that's where I should have stayed.

This is where I was meant to find my indentation in your pillow, but all I can smell is saltwater on the air.

There's water here as much as there is anywhere..

i absolutely love this piece and "There's water here as much as there is anywhere.." is so very poignant.

Thanks for this

you do raw emotion so well, but this is even better because whilst it's still there, it's kinda strangely subtle too. but it comes through just as heavily.

fantastic stuff.

i'm in love with this!

my husband is in the navy & has lived in japan (without me) for 2 & a 1/2 years now..... so it understatedly struck a chord with me. awesome work :)

ps.... it doesn't mean they weren't thinking about you & missing you the whole time babe

Thanks for that last comment, and thanks to everyone generally for feedback...I'm glad it struck a specific chord with you though, sTAr...

It's weird that sometimes I'll write something which I look at later and think 'meh', but everyone else likes. And then there are pieces which seem to go unnoticed but I'm really happy with...

Go artistic difference, I guess.. %)
