Heroin Hive reaction to powder dope?

What's up guys and gals got a quick question for everone... I've been getting the same powder sometimes rock d from the same source. It's pretty good and I can't complain cause it's my only hook up.

Any way I have done some searching and came up with some answers but not specifically what im looking for. Randomly sometimes after I do work (iv and such) I get a reaction that's just on my skin. Sometimes I'll feel the pins and needles but this last time I didnt.

Tonight after I did work I got this large hive that covered the area of my inner elbow and it was pretty big in size... The other times I've gotten tgr hives they where fairly small and there were several of them. So I guess what I'm trying to ask is the hive I got tonight just a normal skin allergy/hive?? If so what caused it? I read up on something saying it could be morphine cut into the dope... Could it be the dope starting to deteriorate into morphine itself? It has already gone away (approx. 20 min ago) and it wasn't uncomfortable or anything...

Thanks in advance for anyone that can help me with this minor dilemma. It doesn't seem like an urgent problem but if it is please let me know because I don't wanna wake up tomorrow morning and have to get my arm amputated HA! Thanks.

It's likely a histamine release. Can be somewhat premptively treated by taking antihistamines like diphenhydramine. Diphenhydramine is also sedating so it will potentiate your high.

"Heroin" (morphine diacetate) is a morphine prodrug, some people will feel the pins and needles even with this form of morphine. Morphine sulfate is notorious for the pins and needles effect. The hydrochloride salt is less prone to cause this effect, but morphine is morphine is morphine - it tends to have a more intense side effect profile at equianalgesic doses compared to most other opioids - hydromorphone, oxycodone, hydrocodone, fentanyl, pethidine, oxymorphone, etc.

I really don't think I missed any of the shot... I went in, registered and everything went smoothly. There wasn't an absence or any other sign of a miss. I kinda want to bump this again to hear any other opinions people may have?

Did more work with the junk today and haven't had any other bumps or hives. I'm sure it was just a histamine reaction I just wanna see if anyone else has any input.

Back in my H days, this would happen every couple of days. Almost poison ivy looking bumps/hives near injection site. Will go away after an hour or too.

I would also conclude that it is just a histamine reaction. Same thing happens all the time and has happened before with Morphine Sulfate.

Even if you didn’t miss the shot I am assuming there are ways for it to somehow get dispersed along the vein on its way up because I have seen these type of hives half way up the arm with large gaps in between the patches.

I really don’t think there is anything to worry about as long as you are fairly confidant that you are not missing a large portion of the shot.

I got tons of hives when I first started Iving dope - one time they even appeared on my butt and upper thighs even though I only IV'd it in my inner arm. it was scary at first but its nothing to worry about.

Could be monoacetylcodeine. Producers don't always extract the codeine out of the poppy syrup, so it sticks around and is acetylated. It is quite toxic, causing extreme histamine release and anaphylactic shock at high doses.
