Highly recommended supplements?

I have been taking this stuff called "sam-e" recently... seems to be pretty good for improving mood/energy etc. Its also good for your liver and joints... Shame its so expensive but definately puts me in a better mood and gives some energy at 200mg a day.

If your trying to get more energy and you want to start exercising etc. then you will prob find if you start doing it (exercising more) you will start just getting more energy as long as you eat well...

Because if you start exerting yourself more then it seems that your body will give you more energy because its expecting you to do it again fi you get what i mean.

I know what your talking about. When I quit smoking for 18 days to pass a drug test I had so much energy I didnt know what to do with myself... I was all active while all my other friends were like dude chil...

Never tried sam-e so I couldn't compare but I have no doubts that it performs as well.
Easy decision 10£ for 100 100mg TMG's or 60£ for a few sam-e's ;)

ON Gold Standard 100% Whey :
24g protein, 4g Glutamine (good for recovery), 5.5g BCAA (amino acids)

You can get it cheaper at amazon.com or bodybuilding.com. I think one shake averages about $0.55 which is dirt cheap for what it is. It was Glutamine, BCAA's in it, and is rated one of the best whey supplements.

You can buy any monohydrate creatine for dirt cheap online. You might want to look into ON Micronized Creatine. I've read some good reviews on it from users on bodybuilding.com It gives the same effect, without the bloating and side effects of monohydrate.

Try to eat 5 smaller meals a day with a proper balance of protein/carbs/fiber/fats. Make sure you get a least 1g of protein per pound of body weight. Take your multi-vitamins/minerals too. Drink plenty of water. Water is the best supplement! Give up the heavey drinking/drug use

Is there anything you would recommend and doesnt have a high price. Not really looking for those name brands supplements that last like a month and cost 60+.

This confuses me. I understand the price issue but most supplements are portioned to last for one month.

Does your protein have a strong BCAA profile? If not you may want to look into an amino acid supplement that covers all the bases to cover that area. It would be more cost effective to pick up a decent whey supplement that has the aminos in it already.

Also, what form of creatine are you taking? There is a popular and effective supplement available that has a blend of creatine monohydrate, glutamine and taurine that I found to be pretty decent in price. I'm not a fan of the monohydrate though and have switched to kre-alkalyn.
Standard rule of thumb that I am certain you are aware of is to drink a ton of water while taking creatine. Shoot for a gallon a day if you can

what do you dislike about mono?
one of the pros for monohydrate are that it provides the illusion of bulk/muscle mass. One of the cons is that the bulk/muscle mass is an illusion.

I really enjoyed looking big but the water retention/bloating would frustrate me regarding gaining definition in my abs.

Monohydrate was all that I was accustomed to and then I started the kre-alkalyn. I don't notice as much 'bulk' from the kre-alkalyn but this may be due to reduced bloating.
All-in-all its been a lot of trial and error for me but I am really sold on the kre-alkalyn

yeah mono made me pretty bloated, i was pretty bulked at one point but it was partly due to the bloating. wish i hadnt bothered with it, did help though could feel it working well. once i stopped taking it and slacked off the fitness, ate less and lost the bloating i became ripped

Okay looking at some people here I'm seeing people taking 10-15 different ones. Are these combined into pills like "multivitamins" or are yall downing 20 something pills a day? Its seems like it would be rather taxing in your digestive system. Even thinking about choking down that many pills nowadays make me want to cry.

Why would swallowing 20 tablets be more taxing than a meal? It's a small amount of substance to consume, really! I'm not really one for taking a million supps, in case you're wondering. Creatine and Whey are all i'm using atm. Will add Piracetam to that list as of the New Year and re-start on Omega 3 (EPA/DHA-heavy) when I can afford to. As for now, i'm just on whole food, herbs and herbal teas. It's all you really need. Anything more in a healthy individual is mere addition, not to say it's ineffective or unnecessary per say.
