Highly recommended supplements?

Damn, some people really take a shitload of supplements. I used to take a lot, but I've switched more now to trying to get all my nutrition from a healthy, balanced diet. There are these 2 things in my daily routine though, the most godly of all the supplements in the whole foods store Vitamineral Green and Vitamineral Earth. It's not really right to call them supplements though, as they are actually a live, raw food.

you can check out the reviews for it on amazon or a similar site, they speak for themselves. it's especially great because in this day & age it can be quite difficult to get enough green foods in your diet. I could write an essay on how incredible this stuff is/will make you feel, but hopefully at least one person here will just try it for themselves.

Personally, I've come to the conclusion that supplements can be incredibly beneficial. However, if you have a really good diet like I do, you really don't need that many. Just thought I'd add what I take daily: In the morning: fish/flax oil and Alpha Brain nootropic supplements, after lunch, Green Vibrance (best green superfood drink on the planet),maca, and usually around 2000 mgs of Ascorbic Acid. In the late afternoon (before I workout), I take another Alpha Brain. Before bed, I take a supplement containing 500 mgs of tryptophan,100 mg 5-HTP,B6,magnesium,etc, and more flax/fish oil for omega 3s.
In terms of alcohol, I see no point unless I"m with friends. I do enjoy working with psychoactives but for the most point, living a healthy, largely sober life is what I do =)

...which should i try for mental and overall health? (sorry for the crude supplement facts - but the mods won't let me link to sites that make a profit which are all sites that would have supp facts for these supps... maybe i'll try to take a screenshot and post it but not for now...)

Hey csrpj, I merged your thread with this one which is a very similar topic...hopefully you can get some advice in here.

I'm not entirely positive which supplement would be better for you for mental and overall health. Both of them seem to have a ton of ingredients so I'm not really sure if you'd know what was helping you and what wasn't. As Dimitri K said above, if you're eating a reasonably healthy and varied diet, you don't need to be taking that many supplements. Maybe just a few that you aren't getting in your regular diet if you see a need for them.

In regard to bodybuilding i only take: 600mg ALA before every highcarb meal postworkout. And 5 doublestrength fishoils every day + Micellarcasein protein with ultra fine oats

Ive recently discoverd creatine nitrate. Only had 2 workouts with it but i love the stuff :D

The rest is al quality food intake. Supplements are mostly bullshit.

been taking cayenne pepper capsules for awhile after reading about all the health benefits ages ago. dunno if they're exaggerated bullshit or not, cant do any harm though

My sleep schedule is flipped by 12 hours. (i.e. 06:00 seems like 18:00 to me). I work twelve hour nights several times a week.

I read that many people have supplements they take during the 'day' and others they take at 'night' (sleep-time).

To what degree, if any, might some of these suggested supplements reach -- in terms of 'altered effects' due to 'time supplement is consumed' -- with a 'flipped' schedule such as mine?

As an example, consider myself taking the supplements listed under 'Morning' at night upon awakening, and vise-versa for the supplements listed under 'Evening' before I sleep (~10:00).

;)
Morning- 70mg vyvanse
30 mg buspar
120mg cymbalta
600mg gabapentin
500mg L-Glutamine
600mg calcium
650epa/450dha omega 3
500mg choline and inositol
Solaray Once daily time release Multi vita
Super B-complx
2000iu D3
800mg acetyl l-carnitine /w 400mg alpha lipoic acid
100mcg huperzine A
2000mg tyrosine split twice daily
400mg magnesium citrate or glycinate
50mg CoQ10
535mg Koerean ginseng (5% ginsenosides)~26mg twice daily

Evening-Stress mint
L-theanine 400 mg
10mg abilify
1000mg acai capsules...

If your trying to keep weight off and not lifting to get really strong but rather just stay fit I would lay off the creatine if you do use creatine be sure to drink plenty of water as it can be hard on your liver if you are dehydrated. I would take a whey protein but nothing over 30g of protein as it just ends up being too much, I would recommend Gold standard 100%whey, I wouldn't use a protein like Muscle Milk as it is a MEAL REPLACEMENT so use only use it if your going to replace a meal otherwise its just too many calories and other things that you can get from eating foods. As for nitric-oxide I've tried some products and it does help some but not a whoollle lot to wear the price isn't really worth it. Glutamine helps with recovery also and I would recommend taking Fish-oil or Flaxseed oil.

Sorry I should have been more specific. The list I posted above is just an example. I do not take those. Thanks for the response though.

The bloating from mono arises from low quality monohydrate. I used to think Kre-Alkalyn was better too but good ol' fashioned high quality monohydrate (creapure) is the best!

fish oil...piracetam....high-quality multi-vitamin (but you should really get your vitamins from foods)....mushroom extract...milk thistle...melatonin...green tea extract

QFT!!! I got the exact same results from kre-alkalyn that i did monohydrate HOWEVER...crystal ether creatine (CEE) seems to be a little better at giving you the cut look and not making you look bloated. A good example of high-quality CEE is Cell Mass....oh yeah it has glutamine too.
