So I came across an article that stated that more intelligent people are more likely to use phycoactive drugs.

In 2010 there was a study than ran in phycology today. This is what they found out.

"there is a clear monotonic association between childhood general intelligence and adult consumption of psychoactive drugs. "Very bright" individuals (with IQs above 125) are roughly three-tenths of a standard deviation more likely to consume psychoactive drugs than "very dull" individuals (with IQs below 75)."

I found this article intresting because it's against the typical druggie. Of course not all people that use drugs are smart, but a few are. whats your thoughts on this?

I don't think intelligence measured by IQ scales have a lot to do with drug addiction.
The IQ measures intelligence but does in an unique way. Although it´s a good indicator it does not consider the emotional or social intelligence neither skills which are important for those who are addicted to drugs.

It does not consider the pattern of addiction from father to son so I believe it´s an isolated marker which can not (IMO) be directly associated or even responsible for someone's addiction.

In very short words, I do believe that there are a number of social, emotional and hereditary factors in addiction with how we grow up (influences, parenting presence, traumas or none of these) that may lead an individual to have higher chances of developing addictions.
The addiction, the rewarding system ppl develop may be related to drugs, but also to gambling, eating disorders, sex, amongst many other ways of self satisfaction where one is used to get rewarded for actions that may bring relief to one´s life.
