High Tolerance Benzo User Seeking Help

Hello,
This is my first post so please forgive any mistakes regarding which forum this actually belongs in etc.

I has been on benzodiazepines since age 14 due to severe anxiety and insomnia. I has been on Xanax 6mg a day, Clonazapam 6mg a day, Ativan 6mg a day, not at the same time but rotating between the three, and a plethora of other pharms in conjunction with those benzo's including abilify, trazadone, prozac, gabapentin, and too many others to name. I am now 22 and still suffers from severe anxiety. I have been to 6 pyschs and no combo of drugs seems to help. I enjoy recreational use of benzo's, but is finding that they are not getting me high anymore. I have gotten to the point where 14 mg of clonazepam does almost nothing. On top of that I require 8-12mg of clonazepam/xanax/ativan to deal with anxiety.

I don't want to get off benzo's, but would like to find something stronger or something to potentiate benzo's/reduce tolerance. From reading The forums on benzo's midazolam seems like the way to go, but I would like to know what others think who have had the same tolerance problem.

Thanks

We don't swim here...
14 mg of klonopin is a lot.
It may be worth simply speaking to a doctor about this.
If you don't want to get off benzos then I hope you realize that this lifestyle isn't sustainable.

unfortunately benzo tolerance goes up and up and up, there's not too much to be done about it.
Long acting benzos could help you but your tolerance is not going to go away.

Tapering down from 14mg klonopin will be a long process and is not to be taken lightly, that's a serious addiction.

I recommend Phenazepam (safely diluted or weighed with an accurate mg scale) for your therapeutic needs, and if you seek euphoria then see about getting Flunitrazepam for long lasting and/or Triazolam for short lasting. 1mg of Phenazepam, which is unscheduled in the U.S. and most other countries, is equipotent to 10mg Diazepam. http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/566261-Benzodiazepine-Conversion-Chart

I would also recommend trying Phenibut. It is recreational in some (including myself, where it feels like a big dose of Alprazolam for 20+ hours) in doses of 2-4 grams (note that I am overweight so it may be less or more for you). Phenibut is most economical in bulk powder form vs gelcaps if you decide to buy some. It's an FDA approved GABAergic nootropic.

Not to be preachy but unless you truly have serious anxiety problems, I recommend a SLOW taper using a long lasting benzo (Phenazepam would be ideal since it has a 100+ hour half-life) until you can abstain completely without the risk of seizures. Whenever my tolerance for a drug shoots through a roof I always taper down and then quit for awhile until my tolerance returns to baseline.

That's the problem, I do have a severe anxiety problem thanks to my father's genetics. Everyone on his side of the family suffers from severe to extreme anxiety including agrophopbia which is so bad my uncle couldn't have more than 15 people at his wedding and still had a severe panic attack. I suffer from panic attacks frequently, 3-5 times a week which, and am finding that clonopin, xanax, and ativan, the top three most prescribed benzo's don't seem to help. I enjoy getting high on benzo's, but don't do it very often, maybe 4 or 5 times a month at most. I have tried therapy but that doesn't help at all. The only thing that seems to aleviate my anxiety and stress level is benzo's unfortunately and my tolerance is getting out of control, so it's a lose lose situation where i either lower my tolerance and suffer crippling anxiety, or continue taking benzos and build an even higher tolerance.

Are Flunitrazepam, Triazolam, Phenazepam, or Phenibut something a primary care physician would prescribe or would i have to see my psych for that?

Flunitrazepam is technically not dispensed in the U.S. as some states classified it as Schedule I despite it being Schedule IV federally. Triazolam is prescribable by any practitioner with a DEA license (that would include any doctor or psychiatrist). Phenazepam is not FDA approved and as such is not prescribed, but is an uncontrolled drug and can be imported legally. Phenibut is not prescribed but is readily available as a supplement without a prescription.

I've edited your post as mgrady3 said we don't use "swim" in here - it doesn't protect you at all and just makes posts tricky to read.

Carry on :)
