So I am perscribed 5mg of abilify, 100mg of trazodone, and 100mg (soon to be 200mg) of lamictal. I take all three of these every night before. I used to take 100mcg of clonidine nightly as well, but the night I stopped taking it (last night), I had a very hard time falling asleep. Once I finally fell asleep, I was woken up a half hour later by my fast, heavy heart rate. I stood up and took my pulse and it was at 130 BPM. My heart was pounding hard in my chest as well. Clonidine is a blood medication which lowers both your heart rate, and blood pressure. Which medication(s) is causing my heart rate to skyrocket? Which ever one(s) it is, I will just take it in the morning instead (exept the trazodone).

The clonidine is a alpha-2A adrenergic receptor agonist. When taken it tends to inhibit norephenephrine release.this may cause the receptors to down regulate.so when not taking it you will tend to have more free norephenephrine. Which may cause you to feel like your hearts pounding .your prob going to want to do a slow taper with that med till your brain reaches homeostasis.hope you feel better.
