Hey all!

Is it more harmful to take a large amount of a substance in a relatively short time(5 hours) than to take a small amount of a substance everyday? To be a bit more precise, over the course of a week the total amount of substance ingested is the same, whether it is done on one evening or divided equally over the whole week.

At first I thought binging would be more harmful, because of the extra stress on the body, dehydration etc. But I think taking something every day is habit-forming and will make a person dependent(physically) (and perhaps addicted) a lot quicker.

I know this question is substance dependent. I'm only interested in alcohol, benzodiazepines and d-amphetamine. Ps. I know d-amp isnt physically addictive.

please correct me if im wrong, criticism is always welcome. I know the question is ill-defined, because no numbers were given, so let's say:

Alcohol: 1 drink a day or 7 in a small period of time(5 hours)
Benzodiazepine: Diazepam 5 mg a day or 35 mg in 5 hours.
d-amp: 30 mg a day or 210 mg in 5 hours.

long drawn out use of smaller doses is far more dependence causing than short term use of higher doses. 0.5 milligrams alprazolam daily for 1 month will cause worst withdrawal symptoms than 2 milligrams daily for a week.

In the case of benzos, I would definitely say 5mg/every day is going to cause you to gain tolerance much faster than 35mg in 5 hours. 35mg of JUST diazepam, that's not too harmful depending what you current tolerance level is. I personally though wouldn't want to waste it all in one day like that...

In terms of alcohol: 7 drinks at once is quite a lot. I would say its more harmful to drink 7 at once than 1 a day (doctors even recommend having a glass of red wine every day) I feel like you might even gain tolerance quicker binge drinking like that. I would go for the daily drink

D-amp: This is like the benzo: Definitely 30mg/day is going to increase your tolerance much faster however 210 at one shot is fairly dangerous (unlike 35mg of diazepam at once).

This is all given that the drugs are taken separately. (Combining alcohol & benzos & d-amp is another story...)

i would say, with anything, taking fair-strong dose, while still manageable to prevent unwanted effects. do this on occasion as to keep tolerance in check.
Doing daily, to me, sounds like working on building that tolerance! different rates for different things, so maybe like pot, do all the time sure! but stuff like stims/benzo/opiates, obviously i would not want to make too much a habit for many reasons.

the occasion type style dosing, seems like biggest bang for buck, and best highs will come! ...compared to regular dosing.

HOWEVER! i must add that doing a binge for a few days can be rather nice, like stims for example. the next few days without sleep and keep on flyin/rollin can be rather interesting and pleasant experience, depending on other conditions of course.
