I usually take 1mg clonazepam, 3 x day.
Tonight I decided to chill out a little bit more, so I took 5mg of Ambien ,? 3 sublingual clonazepam , then three more clonazepam powered and parachuted.

I feel sedated, but I was hoping for more.
Any ideas ?

Probably due to the long half like of clonazepam compared to say Xanax or Ativan which pack more of punch and tend to knock sound one out in a more potent punch.

I guess you are both right. I got a little faded, but overall it was not worth taking the extra pills. I'll stick with my therapeutic dosages.

Years ago when I had a tremendous tolerance (maybe even congenital), I have felt nothing even after 6 mg of clonazepam. Now, after several attempts to use ketamine/MXE, clonazepam works perfectly in small doses even at 0.25-0.5 mg.

Definitely tolerance.

With a really high tolerance, the difference between taking 10mg and 20mg of Clonazepam is borderline negligible.

Maybe try a more sedating benzo? Alprazolam and Temazepam come to mind.
