Hierarchy of Water Sources for Injecting Drug Users

yawn. cup of tap water sat on top of a gas fire with flecks of ash, hairs and assorted other crap floating inside. used at least twice daily to inject, flushed the bloody pins back out - changed once a week when too much had evaporated and i risked hitting the pin on the bottom when drawing up.
Yeah, that's pretty good too. Actually, better. I'm always going to do it like that from now on. Scratch my earlier post, BHM's got it sussed.

Air conditioner / dehumidifier runoff is also pretty filthy stuff. It contains no dissolved minerals -- it's good enough to use in lead-acid rechargeable batteries, even -- but the "cold distillation" process leaves it positively teeming with bacteria.

Bottled battery water shouldn't be assumed to be any cleaner. Again it's chemically pure, aot biologically pure. It still hasn't had anything added to make it hostile to bacteria -- which wouldn't actually stop a battery, even if they survived the acid.

Nah, what's all this harm reduction stuff, telling people about better sources of water? Filthy cup of hairy, ashy, bloody standing water is the way forward. Ask the big expert over there. Of course, I'd be worried about the risk for catching hep/HIV if I was using that for injection water, but presumably BHM has no mates around, ever, so it's not a problem. It should also be obvious that for IM injection, bacterial and viral contamination is a very serious concern, much more than it is for IVing, and that a manky old cup is a great way to develop an abcess, but I think that nuance and common sense have, as per fucking usual, eluded our shortsighted simian assistant.
