Hide your old pills in poop: US govt

clamjuice, I'm gonna have to ask you for some data on that. Last I heard tap water was actually very well regulated, and, generally, better than bottled water.

Nah you got it twisted. I know the new info your talkin about tho with the big news stories about how the bottled water thing is a scam. It sure is. But, it wasnt that it was better, just that Bottled water IS filtered tap water in alot of cases. unless it says spring water then it legally must come from a spring. "purified" "filtered" etc means its tap water. Poland spring, deer park, etc = spring water. Aquafina, dasani = tap water. I dont think tap water is BETTER in general than bottled water. jus that they are similar. All i know is, i dont know how yall can talk about tap water bein good when it tastes like you are drinkin out of a swimming pool. Chlorine grosses me the fuck out and dries my hair so bad I cant even wash it. Im lucky to have well water.

@ atlas, i dont give a shit if flouride is a "drug" or not, I dont want it in my water. I can worry about my teeth decay with some toothpaste and floss. I know it sounds like a conspiracy theory or some shit, but i really dont believe that its some kind of evil plot or nothin, im just against the idea that water needs to be anything but clean and water. Straight up, puttin shit like flouride in it is just unnecessary.

Man everyone takes the wording and comments in here so offensively. Run a google search on long term effects of consuming fluoride and chlorine.

I dont give a fuck if you guys want to drink fluoride and anything else. When i reach for a glass of water i expect it to be just that, water... and thats it.

and PS when i smoke pot and drink beer or whatever else i CHOOSE to consume i do so knowingly, when i reach for water and NEED it to survive i expect it to be my choice as to what is in it. Just like you wouldnt want tainted drugs, there is no need for tainted water.

Tap water isn't bad, at least not in Philly. I've read stories about taste tests that said most can't tell the difference. I certainly can, so I don't drink it. It's an acquired taste imo. But I have no concern over its safety.

With that being said, I sure as hell would not shoot it.

I was under the impression that it's the fda controlling bottled water and epa controls tap water, and that the epa's standards were higher than the fda's.

didn't know that. I *DO* know that FDA standards are complete jokes anyways, so even if the epa kind of sucks, that doesn't inherently make them worse than the FDA! There was a thread recently, almost positive on these boards, about how few manufacturing places the FDA actually visits annually, and how what % of issues they find are properly resolved, it was kind of scary. BTW lacey nice to see you in ditm more often!

and I like the new avatar but damn I hate the constant swapping! I know it's prolly just me but that shit makes it so I don't realize who someone is for like a week, then finally I'm like 'oh yeah, that's just a new avatar lol'..

I couldn't get this topic out of my head (the original article, not the tap water discussion it somehow blossomed into), and don't think anyone commented on my theory on the issue.

Playing devil's advocate and assuming the DEA/gov really want no pills to make it to the hands of recreational users, clearly this is a pointless suggestion as the amount of diverted pills through the means of someone finding used pills in the trash would represent such a small % of diverted pills it'd be insanely small, completely negligible. This kind of notice seems almost certainly more of a public service announcement to further demonize the recreational usage of said rx's and not really have the intention of reducing the # of diverted rx's.

Furthermore, I find it a lil funny that they suggest wrapping pills in coffee grounds, and specifically mentioned methylphenidate. "Go ahead and wrap the evil stimulant ritalin in the rinds of the good, legal stimulant caffeine". Fucking irony lol.

Fight drug abuse with ferret droppings

Fight drug abuse with ferret droppings

Got some leftover drugs - the kind that someone else might want to use, such as painkillers or stimulants?

Wrap them up in used kitty litter or other pet droppings, the United States Government advises.

A pilot programme at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (Samhsa) is looking at ways people can safely dispose of unused prescription drugs that are liable to be abused.

The Food and Drug Administration recommends flushing some of the most dangerous ones down the toilet, including the strong, addictive painkillers oxycodone and fentanyl and stimulants such as methylphenidate.

But environmentalists worry about the effects on fish and amphibians.

On its website www.samhsa.gov/rxsafety/, Samhsa recommends ways to disguise leftover pills.

"Mixing prescription drugs with an undesirable substance, such as used coffee grounds or kitty litter, and putting them in impermeable, nondescript containers, such as empty cans or sealable bags, will further ensure the drugs are not diverted," it says.

Of course some people do not drink coffee. But maybe they have a pet ferret.

"Ferret waste, like nearly any other form of pet waste, can be effectively used to help prevent the abuse of unused prescription drugs," Samhsa spokesman Mark Weber said.

This news delighted the American Ferret Association.

"The US Government declares ferret poop to be an effective weapon against drug abuse," the group said.

Samhsa said the problem was no joke: "One in five teens reports intentionally misusing someone else's prescription drugs to get high."

Why would anyone be throwing away pills? If you are prescribed them, you eat them. If you have the overwhelming urge to not eat them, give them to charity. If you are covering them in cat poop, you have issues.

At least the U.S. government admitted ferrit shit is more effective than the DEA in stopping drug abuse.

Glad to see the US govt. is doing some really critical research to benefit the community. Must have took a long time to come to these conclusions, lots of testing with different types of poop to come to the conclusion that ferret poop is a top choice. Congrats Govt. you never seize to amaze me, instead of throwing pills down the toliet they are throwing out tax money down the toliet
