Okay, well my son (teenager) is usually a pretty lazy kid. Dirty room, hates doing chores, generally is just quite lazy.
Well last weekend, I was pleasantly surprised to see that he had cleaned his room. He cleaned it very well, and actually removed all the furniture in order to clean every corner and inch of the room, and actually washed the walls.
I thought that maybe he had just gotten some motivation to finally sleep in a nice, tidy environment. I did notice he was short of jittery, but I thought nothing of it, thinking maybe he'd had a few energy drinks.
Well during the week when he had to do his weekly chores, that he usually would just not do or continuously post-pone, he suddenly did them right on time, all in a few hours, hurrily running around the house at hyper-speed getting everything done that he had to. He wasn't hungry at dinner time and said his stomach had been bothering him.
So next week we are having company, and the house is usually quite untidy through the winter, and I usually end up doing spring cleaning.
Oddly enough, he actually approached me asking if he could clean up the house so it would be nice and tidy for company. (for some cash of course)
I was expecting him to do his usually "cleaning". AKA, clean what is visible, but leave every stone UNTURNED so their is just junk hidden away in crevesses or drawers or under carpets. And dust and crap everywhere, not a thorough cleaning. You know how kids can clean (well teenagers).
So he started with the basement (it's a furbished basement, so it's got flooring and theirs a area down their where the kids hang out with their friends and play x box, and also the laundry room, so generally it tends to get quite dirty down their.
Well I come down to check on him, and what I saw blew my mind. He has literally torn the place apart, removed all the furniture, into the middle of the rooms and was washing the walls, dusting behind things that hadn't been cleaned behind in years, took my plant stand that I use for gardening during the winter that had gotten very messy and full of leaves and had removed everything, completely washed it down so it looked like new. Basically he ripped the whole place apart to clean every single corner, and then put everything back. He cleaned for 8 hours straight, and when he was finished the place was cleaner than I have ever seen it. Spotless.
I also noticed he was very jittery again, and was chewing on a cap of a water bottle or something very aggressively the whole time. And when he wasn't, I noticed he was sort of moving his jaw around and licking his lips kind of compulsively, stuff I don't normally seem him do. He also drank like 8 bottles of water, which i also though was unusual.
I haven't really seen him drinking any ridiculous amount of energy drinks or caffeine, so I'm wondering if the behaviour might be the result of a drug of some sort. Maybe I'm just over thinking this and he was just so jittery because of how long he'd been cleaning, I don't know.
But does this behavior sound weird to any of you, does it sound like drug use of any sort?
