Hello All, I came here to ask some questions that I can hopefully get some opinions or answers on it.
I will do that in the appropriate Forums. Just here to say Hi. Represnting Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
I have been on methadone since January 17th, 2009. And no I didnt want to be on this stuff for this
long. But as I said will post later. I have a child born in March/09. Love of my life, what keeps me
sober every day without relasping (or) when I was taking a parenting class for new mothers with addiction
issues ReUsing. She said if you just had a short time or used only once thats not a relaspe...........you got right back on the horse
so she said it should be called a reuse not a relaspe. I loved her view on life!
So Ive struggled alot threw my life. My life has thrown me some great curve balls..........so I was on 4mg of clonazepam just a little
over 2 months ago and am now down to 1.5mg. Its dam hard! I wanted to taper I think my doctor is a moron for putting me on 4mg daily for the last 10 yrs but I also think she is tapering me waaaaay to fast. But I also take 1800mg of gabapentin, 600mg 3x a day. And I
truly believe thats its helping me with tapering the clonazepam because the last time I went off it I had a seziure and gabapentin is
a sezuire med right? I dunno but its diffenetly helping at this higher dose. When I first tryed gabapentin it was only prescribed to
me in a low dose and did nothing, but then I heard somewhere I dont remember where not but that at higher doses
people were really finding it beneficial. So thats about it for my howdy this me message =} Im on 90mg of methhdadone and would like to start
tapering that too maybe after the holidays, or perhaps I should wait untill Ive tapered completely off the Klonipin.

Thanks a bunch!

Welcome, hope to see some of your posts and get into more detail about your issue over in Other Drugs.. there's a lot of great people there with a lot of knoweldge. I'll just impart this quickly since I'm here... It's never reccomended to taper both opiates and benzos at the same time... Focus on one, and then the other.. It'll be much easier and safer.

I have some experience with methadone as I reduced from 70ml daily to 5ml before jumping off totally. don't listen to the scare stories just make a plan and stick to it. you have been on quite long term so don't rush it but maybe drop 5ml every 4 weeks and I do not see you having any problems. it is a cake walk at the beginning but obviously you will need to be more determined when you get down to about 30ml as at this point the tapers are bigger percentage wise. even then though you are just looking at temporary disturbed sleep n maybe some shivers whilst aclimatising between tapers. You can do it! when you get to about 20mg you can lower the amount you drop each time but I personally stuck to 5ml drops and only eaked out the very last taper by having tiny amounts then every other day then nothing. I never experienced anything like a full withdrawal either at the end. I hope this helps you.

as the previous poster said though maybe one thing at a time. I am not experienced with benzodiazepines but have heard of dangers. that said though I don't see why you could not bring your methadone intake down at least by a certain amount whilst tapering your other meds. your just gonna have to choose which you are going to come completely off first

sorry to keep posting but I suddenly found the need to research about benzodiazepines wd's. in my totally unprofessional opinion I think you should completely deal with getting off the benzodiazepines first. imo the opiates will even possibly help in a stability sense even acting as a cushion. if you did self reduce on your methadone you could have a little saved up which could come in handy during your final kick from the benzodiazepines. then when you are free and clear from the benzodiazepines you can turn your attention to the methadone taper which will be no doubt easier to deal with on its own .. as I previously talked about.

I wish you all the best and all the positive thoughts I can spare .. I'm currently on day 6/7 of poppy pod cold turkey after a relapse this year
