HI! How does Oxycontin compare to Heroin?

Hi guys,
I am new to this site so hi first of all. Lets get the basics out of the way; I have been a poly-drug user since I was 11, and I'm now 27. Ive done the whole homeless thing, the jail thing, the rehab thing etc etc and I am now o along term Methadone program. I have managed to get to a point in my life where drugs are not controlling it. I am not robbing people, stealing or lying to anyone, so things are as good as they have ever been really with regards to not using uncontrollably. I was havig fits and seizures from snowballing so had to slow down. I have got myself down from 200mls Meth + 60mg Valium/Amytriptyline a day to 80mls Meth alone.
So thats me. Be nice to hear from some of you.

Now, quick question; How does Oxycontin compare to other opiates? We don't get it in the uk, or at least I've not come across it. The reason I ask is when I was 14 I was sold some MST's (morphine sulphate) and I was told that one or two was like 0.2-0.4g of H. What a load of bollocks that was! So is it a similar deal hear? They seem very expensive on the net.

Oxy is stronger than morphine, but not as strong as heroin. To get the exact difference, you can google "opiate dosage conversion". I'm not sure they talk about conversion between oxy and heroin, but they do talk about conversion between oxy and morphine, so it gives you an idea :)

OxyContin is a semi-synthetic opiate that is a derivative of thebaine, an alkaloid in the poppy plant. It tends to have a speedier effect than natural opiates like morphine and heroin. I would equate morphine and heroin as heroin feels very sedating just like morphine, except without all the "pins and needles" feeling. But I've only snorted three bags of H in my life.
 
Thanks, will do. Any personal experience with the effects? As is, would a tablet have any effect similar to H while on methadone?
 
oxycodone is vastly safer just for the simple fact that you can be sure of your dosage, a luxury not afforded to heroin user. Also there is no active cuts in Oxycontin tablets, the inactive cuts that are present are documented on the manufacturers website.

The caveat: if you IV them OCs are far more dangerous and can easily kill because of the binders.

Addiction risk aside I think oxycodone taken orally is nearly harmless, most would disagree with me though.

h feels more natural and makes you very relaxed and content
heroin causes worse physical side effects most of which digestive problems
 
Interesting stuff, thanks guys. I have to say it's been quite hard for me recently to not use, and I'm yet to find something that satisfies like a snowball. Oxy was recomended by a fellow 'enthusiast' as a way to get an safer opiate effect, albeit without the rush. I used to mix dexedrine with valium as a kid, I guess that upper/downer-at-the-same-time thing is still with me!
 
If I had to choose between the two I would choose heroin everytime. The heroin is always a toss up though because you never know what you're going to get, whereas OC is always OC.

So to put it in perspective from my point of view:

Heroin Pros: More euphoria, longer sedation
Cons: Inconsistent, "dirty" (meaning it can be cut with anything).

OC Pros: Clean and pure rush, very consistent
Cons: More expensive, shorter duration

I have shot both H and OC's numerous times (btw don't shoot pills!)
H more sedated warm high
OC's seem to have a more energetic high to me
the rush (from IV) seems pretty similar to me although it is somewhat different

Haha, I was just about to write the exact OPPOSITE.

With oxy, I can go to work, and function like a normal person, to the point that no one notices me being fucked up.

With H, I'm floating somewhere up in the clouds.

To each his own, but for safety purposes, don't try to dose oxy based on the "feel" of H. You will still be "opiated" but not nearly as sedated as with an "equivalently safe" dose of H.
 
Will the O still be felt over Methadone? And as far as shooting goes, most of what we get over here are manufactured with a substance that seem's to harden when melted, meanin its a no-go to shot them. Is this the case with O?

You can definetly shoot oc's and there is a rush when you shot them, but there are so many fillers in pills .
Don't try to do OC's if you take methadone you probably won't even feel it and it seems dangerous to do that
 
If we're just talking about the effects, and not factoring in the different roas, they're similar and even interchangeable for a lot of addicts. A whole set of current heroin addicts started their opiate careers with OxyContin and only ended up switching due to economics and availability. (Although once they switched to IV, other factors became noteworthy and drastically tip the scales for heroin preference.)

As for the high, oxy tends to be a bit more "speedy" and not as sedating as heroin. Keep in mind that some of this is person specific. For example, some people, myself included, don't find heroin sedating.
 
All interesting stuff. Do you have a preference to Oxy re tablets of the opiate variety? We are very limited here in the UK.
 
Most preferred oxycodone preparations for recreational use are OxyContins and Roxis. Oxycodone/apap combo pills are popular, but not as preferred as those due to their low dose and apap.
 
Without going into details, have you actually got a source for OxyContin or is this just a hypothetical discussion? OC is about equivalent to MST (Maybe x1.5 orally-an OC40 is similar to the pinkish 60mg MST's).
It does not contain the wax matrix or silicon which have made certain other pills a big risk to shoot,but I could not responsibly condone shooting ANY pills. If your tolerance makes oral use impossible within your budget/supply then consider plugging. Insufflation does not make much difference to BA compared with swallowing.
To defeat the time-release effect simply crush the pill and if the taste is unpalatable (as it is with most chemical-based products, except for childrens' medicines) try wrapping the powder from the crushed pill in paper and swallowing this.
 
Yes, I have a source for Oxycontin. I am in the UK and we don't get it prescribed hereso I am interested as I have not come across it before. Just to clarify, are you suggesting that plugging would have more effect than taking it orally? (Also, what is BA?)

I gave up with MST's eventually, they never worker for me. I'm sure without a habit there great but with a Methadone script they never seemed to break through the numbing feeling of the juice!

What I am asking is peoples opinions on whether OC is worth taking while on Methadone, either orally/plugged/or crushed and IV'ed (yes, I know it's dangerous, wrong, stupid). While we're on the subject, is it worth doing a water extraction for codeine as a another alternative? Codeine is mostly forgotten over here (unless people are withdrawing) for actually getting stoned as one can never get enough however if the CWE methods are worthwhile then maybe its worth me looking at.
