Greetings fellow chemical indulgers,
I fell from a tree in 1999. I had multiple surgeries while living in New York but they can't seem to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. So I have a heel that was broken in about 20 pieces. I found out that the heel is the second worse bone you can break, other than your spine, because they do not have a prosthetic equivalent since the Achilles tendon does not grow to plastic. I hereby warn all you roofers, framers, and do-it-yourselfers to beware breaking that bone. I was an avid runner, taking in at least seven miles a day. It was my love, not my exercise.
I have been off and on several pain meds throughout the years but last year we were forced to moved down to SC and away from the NY doctors which I had known so well. It seems it is very hard to get any doctor to write you a prescription for pain meds here. I thought it would be easier than NY but not so. I am so frustrated that I have tried stopping on several occasions but since I have now gained a lot of weight I try to hit the gym and do what I can do.
My new plan is to get off the meds completely. I'll live with the pain since every doctor down here has treated me like a drug addict when my foot is twice the size of the other one and the scar tissue looks like a crossword puzzle.
I am on 40mg of Oxycodone a day (4x10mg) but for ten years my maintenance dose was Oxycontin 4x10mg and Oxycodone 2x20mg for breakthrough pain. I can only get them to give me Oxycodone 3x10mgs and I have tried several doctors. I am sick of it and just want out. So I don't think it will be too hard to go down from 3x10mg but I would like to do it without Suboxone. I don't need another drug screwing up my liver.
Can I wean myself off these things? I am always short at the end of the month now that the cold weather is here so I am in deep do do if I s don't act fast.
Help? Dave
