Stop resisting!
As if the threat of deadly drug cartels in Mexico wasn't enough, some of them are joining forces with Middle East terror groups.

"Hezbollah are absolute masters at identifying existing smuggling infrastructures," says former DEA Chief of Operations Mike Braun, adding that the group "is developing relations with those responsible for operating those smuggling operations and then forming close relations with them, so that they can move anything they have an interest into virtually anywhere in the world." That comment comes from former DEA Chief of Operations Mike Braun. He goes on to tell me that the Middle East terror group is "rubbing shoulders" with drug cartels around the globe.

My military and Department of Homeland Security contacts are insistent...it's not if Hezbollah operatives have been smuggled into the U.S....but how many? They note that drug tunnels are becoming much more sophisticated and striking similar as tunnels being used by terror organizations to smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip. My contacts also say they have real concern that bombing techniques used in the Middle East to promote terror are now also being used inside Mexico, as the cartels war with each other and anyone in their way.

This comes as Mexican authorities busted a senior Hezbollah operative who employed Mexicans nationals with family ties to Lebanon to set up the network, designed to target Israel and the West, according to multiple reports. The man's name is Jameel Nasr and he was arrested after a Mexican surveillance operation revealed that he traveled frequently to Lebanon to receive information and instructions from Hezbollah commanders and he also spent several months in Venezuela working with the terror group and Hugo Chavez's people.

Meantime, over this past weekend President Calderon of Mexico sent a significant number of troops to the border regions and while they are there to help battle the cartels, they have also been sent to deal with the growing connection to Hezbollah. As one contact told me, "Mexico knows the seriousness of a cartel connection with Hezbollah and the threat to their national security."

I've seen videos on liveleak of extremist types bragging to large crowds about how easy it would be to send an agent into the US through a tunnel from mexico with a 'suitcase of anthrax to spread like confetti'. Granted the guy didn't seem to know much about proper anthrax dispersal lol buuut still, even if it isn't possible, they sure seem to believe it is

Hezbollah aren't interested in attacking inside the U.S. If anything, they are involved in this for the same reason everyone else is: cash money.

i doubt any cartel in their right mind would risk the heat of allowing some terrorist in through their particular tunnel. It would be easier to just walk over the border lol...

Anyone with any value would be stupid to attack the US...you remember what happened last time? Hey maybe you call it a victory, but there are more dead and destruction on one side than the other if you know what I mean (and I especially dont condone violence on either side tho)

I think Hezbollah would be risking a lot by doing this. Hezbollah is an Iranian proxy, its different from say Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda had nothing to lose except a couple of cave holes. Even the Taliban realized what a big pain in the ass he was gonna be and offered him up for trial in Pakistan after the 9/11 attacks (of course not acceptable under our dead or "alive" policy).

If Iran is seen to have attacked the US, even through a proxy, you can bet your ass Israeli and American war plans and ships will begin bombing Iran. No question. It may be limited in scope but that kind of action cant be tolerated by national security buffs and chickenhawks.

I know what both the cartels and Hezbollah are thinking (assuming this is factual)

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

What? I can assure you what they normally bring through the tunnels is just as illegal as any terrorist. I'm sure the cartels will bring *anything* across the border if you pay them enough.

What is Hezbollah risking? The US is gonna hate them even more?

Even though Iran supports Hezbollah they are definitely a stand alone organization despite where some of there funding comes from. Even if Hezbollah were to attack inside the US I can pretty much guarantee we wouldn't attack Iran because it is impossible to prove Iran was behind it. I believe Americans have learned there lesson from previously attacking countries behind faulty intelligence.

you seem to be quite sure that Hezbollah, a hardline paramilitary/nationalist political group would have any of the same interests as say the Sinaloa Cartel, a transnational criminal organization. If you want to go through all the points as to why I don't think they share the same goals, I might take the time, but instead we can just go to the lowest common denominator.

The violent drug war in Mexico has been waging for 3 years, and both Hezbollah and the cartels have been around for years...so why haven't we been struck with this purported vulnerability?

I would compare to the "loose nuke" case. Supposedly tons of nuclear material, including suitcase bombs, could be bought on the black market after the collapse of the Soviet Union. The media sensationalized this (a few reporters in particular) and now a lot of people actually think there are unaccounted for suitcase sized nukes. I mean seriously? do we live in a bad b-movie or something? Why hasn't one been detonated? or tracked down? If this was a real situation, the gov would have spent billions, perhaps trillions finding them, but they didn't. Simple as that. No explosion, no bomb. Never was. Yea Journalism!

My point? Don't believe the hype.

Also, be more afraid of Pakistan's nukes falling to the hands of extremists in the event of a change in gov. But again, the principles of MAD should hold out and keep everyone "safe." Thanks America for propping up nuclear dictators who oppress their people in to a radical opposition!

*Also, Cartels dont need more money. I am sure saving 1% on their money laundering fees would be more than anything Hezbollah could ever pay.
*You are right, and the thinking cartel doesn't allow some new player on their turf for any reason
*drugs as illegal as terrorists? you've got to be kidding me...we on bl...we all terrorists?
*What is Hezbollah risking? Not much, just turn on your gps and i'll make a few calls (jkjkjk) Its not hate them more, more like kill them more. Can you imagine the american bloodlust over terrorists coming over from MEXICO!!! The fact they crossed the southern border would be the biggest story, not even the dead.
*Hezbollah stand alone? Did you look at the last war between Israel and Hezbollah? How do you think any Israeli tanks were destroyed? Brand spanking new, cutting edge Iranian anti-tank rockets. I could go much deeper on this issue, but to see Hezbollah as anything but an Iranian proxy is rich. Here are some quotes from the wiki page on Hez

"Hezbollah receives military training, weapons, and financial support from Iran, and political support from Syria."
"Its leaders were inspired by Ayatollah Khomeini, and its forces were trained and organized by a contingent of Iranian Revolutionary Guards.[10] "

Sure, maybe the leaders of Hezbollah could decide to be insubordinate to Iran, but you bet your ass they understand their actions are a reflection of Iran's geopolitical interests in the region

Plus, this statement deserves its own post:

With the Merida Initiative, the US marked a new doctrine of involvement in Central American security and this "narcoterror" connection is the perfect pretext for escalation.

ISLAMIC TERRORISTS/RESISTANCE FIGHTERS + CATHOLIC GANGSTERS/OLIGARCHS = Does Not Compute

It is not an issue of saving money.. you are implying that the cartels wouldn't want their money and I promise you it spends just as well. The US has put dozens of border tunnels out of commision. I would venture there are hundreds of operational tunnels active now. You are also working under the impression that you need the blessings of the head of the cartel to get through the tunnels. All you need to do is find one single person operating a tunnel willing to take a large amount of money to let a person through. Even if there were "ethical" cartels who didn't want to allow these people through, the same people don't control all the tunnels and I promise you someone would take the cash and turn a blind eye. Believe it or not, some of these people probably support terrorist activity in the USA.

Apparently in your world drug trafficking organizations support Americas politics and wouldn't take easy money to help us out.

*drugs as illegal as terrorists? you've got to be kidding me...we on bl...we all terrorists?
You will get a life sentance for smuggling large amounts of cocaine or heroin into the US, so yes drugs are obviously just as illegal as human smuggling. I never implied a drug user was a terrorist and that is silly.

I'm aware iran supports hezbellah with funds and material. this does not change the simple fact they exist independently of iran and has been around almost 30 years. iran and hezbollah are not one in the same despite what you claim. they are two separate entities. the US supports many sockpuppet regimes as well, and if they did something wrong we couldn't be held accountable because *we* didn't do anything. they acted independently of us and we have plausible deniability just like iran does. just because you support a group does not make you liable for there actions

The cartels don't hate the US. The US drug war makes them most of their money. That's a dumb statement, lol.

Well ya, but the terrorists on 9/11 came in through the Canadian border, where it's much easier to come in. Why would they go through the "hot" border where so much drugs come from.

Ask yourself, "what's in it for them? what do they gain from attacking the US?" The answer is obviously absolutely nothing, it would be a gigantic waste of time and effort.

The only terrorists are oppressive governments who brainwash uneducated idiots into attacking the US in order to justify an invasion in the middle east.

Its not like US drug use would decline following a terrorist attack.

The cartel might not hate United States citizens.. but the US government wants to lock them in jail forever so yeah I'd say they aren't on good terms? (Or the fact we often murder the cartel leaders?)

This does nothing to change the fact that the Mexicans would take them through the tunnels for enough cash. The article says Hezbollah is buddying up to the cartel. It wasn't my idea.

I never said Hezbollah had anything to gain from attacking the US. This is a hypothetical in response to the article specifically about Hezbollah coming into the US.

OK? And rival cartels celebrate when we catch one. So often governments rub out one cartel because a rival is supporting the government. Especially in Mexico FFS. And if the US didn't want to lock people in jail for smuggling drugs, the drug dealers wouldn't make money off their illegal racket in the first place. Big pharmaceutical companies would make the money instead, so there is no reason for the cartels to hate the policies. They fucking love it.

This does nothing to explain why they just don't come through the Canadian border, like they did on 9/11

I think Faux news just likes to promote the war on drugs and war on terrorism... Maybe Hezbollah just has the hookup on that H from Afghanistan...

Fun facts:
Afghanistan supplied 7% of the US heroin before 9/11, and today they supply 60%
