Cornish, I'm afraid to say it, but you are one of the best looking blokes I've ever seen, effortlessly so too. I'd say you were the best looking bloke in EADD,but that only holds if you discount 33Hz, perhaps the best looking chap ever to walk the earth.

well any nuns i have met were religious and pure
not one iota of sluttyness on display.
but in the exorcist the beggining it suggests the devil infected a convent and unnatural activitys took place

On the nun thing, nunneries (and monastaries) are notorious dens of sexual deviancy, no? There's something deeply unnatural about such levels of repression so is hardly surprising that all that excess of sexual tension traditionally gets transposed onto other forms of self-abuse (flagellation, mortification, fasting, sensory deprivation, corporal (and in the "good" ol' days capital) punishment and so on).
There only exists a tension between "slut and nun, whore and angel" because female sexuality became - literally - demonised when societies made that fateful switch from predominantly matriarchal Goddess worship to predominantly patriarchal God worship. Thankfully the tide of sanity seems to be slowly - ever so slowly - starting to wash away the millenia of fear, ignorance, hate and superstion so we as a global society can grow up a bit and become healthy and whole

Acieed_ed It would make tactical sense for Satan to attack Gods frontlines wouldn’t it? Nuns take vows of chastity. This means they don’t take enjoyment from the flesh basically. They’re not carnal or sensual. Their bliss and ecstasies are of another kind. . They are married to God and called to be faithful. The Exorcist, I take it, is suggesting that Satan was able to lure the nuns from their Lord.. The nuns ‘sin’ here is not that they indulged in some way but that they were not satisfied. They were not satisfied because they had some how lost touch with God.. Closeness to God is ecstasy. Sin separates us from the Holy Spirit which makes us so vulnerable. If we lose the Holy Spirit we lose our strength and power. Have a look and ponder at the parable of the ten virgins mathew 25 if you want. I see it as illustrating what i'm saying.. hope you do too.:D
Sometimes we are called to give up our er carnal desires. Sex can become idolatrous. God didn’t create it to be so. Its beautiful, fun, loving and sacred but its not a god. Its not something to be put before God. If a person is called to serve and follow God he/she has to be prepared to give these things up periodically or indefinitely.. I suppose it depends on the individuals soul care plan.

I would beg to differ...
The tension between "whore and saint" exists only in the heads of those that believe that being "a whore" is somehow intrinsically a Bad Thing of some description when it is in no way obvious that it actually is or ever should be considered so. If you then take this essentially arbitrary concept of "the wrong kind of female sexuality" and hold it up for comparison with another arbitrary and artificial concept of "the right kind of idealised morality" you create a tension for yourself where none exists in reality. This is precisely the kinda reason why fantasy and reality should be kept separate - folks just end up with all kindsa whacky ideas about stuff :D
But yeah, not really the right thread for such talk. I was most annoyed when the Chaplaincy thread was deaded. I enjoyed that thread and was nice to have somewhere to hoover up any excess of religious excess so it didn't just pollute up the rest of the place. Where else can a fella go for his theological deepities on a Sunday morn these days?
