Hey look, barbituates!!!

after the cloroform, cold water and active carbon filter, it should'nt pick up the barbiturate (its not listed as indicated for barbiturate overdose in my CCP hand book, just naso-gastic suction..so carbon probably doesn't touch it) but the carbon will grab the caffeine.

imo all this trouble of extracting the butalbital isn't worth it. butalbital is not a very recreational barbiturate, and considering the dangers of barbs i'd leave this one alone.

if secobarbital, phentobarbital, or amobarbital was the barb in floricet, i'd have an extraction figured out in about 15 minutes...

Ehhhh you're probably right. it's a tempting thought to isolate a barb when you have several scripts to play with, though. plus i haven't experienced barbituate highs (just benzos) so call it a case of curiosity. what's it comparable to? a shitty benzo?

benzos and barbs feel pretty similar, both produce an alcohol like intoxication and euphoria at recreational doses.

barbs however generally produce more clumbsiness/impairment and feel a bit more like alcohol, and good barbs(secobarbital, etc.) are more euphoric and recreational than any benzo.

barbs are also more dangerous as they are easy to overdose on and are very dangerous if overdose occurs. benzos are very difficult to overdose on by themselves(mixed with alcohol or opiates overdose is more likely).

i personally was prescribed fioricert for migraines and i freakin loved them i ended taking like 35 in a few days i am an opiate kinda girl myself and have never had any other barbituate bfore but what i found whith them is u want to start off eating like 5 or 6 right off the top. just my opinion

i'm not so sure the cold water extraction technique works i can say from experience it helps but i still got the stomach pains associated with to much Tylenol

that sounds like too much to me. since my script ive taken 3 and felt good, not great. defiantly room for experimentation though :)

Although this will be a bit later for the OP, Butabital can be fairly easily seperated from all the crap it's often formulated with such as Caffeine, Aspirine, Paracetamol, or what else. The way to accomplish this is through acid-base extraction. When acidified, barbiturates will become the corresponding barbituric acid. When an alkali hydroxide such as NaOH is added, it turns into the alkaline Sodium salt. The free acid of barbiturats is highly insoluble in water, but the alkaline Sodium salt is very soluble in water. So taking this in account, it can be seperated from other stuff you don't want in your end product.

So, by adding any butalbital containing mixture to a basic solution of NaOH, it will dissolve very well in water and sol will the the caffeine, the paracetamol will not.
Filter the solution to get rid of the paracetamol. Now add small portions of hydrochloric acid to the solution left over after filtration untill no more Butalbital precipitates out of solution. Filter the solution and keep the you'll see the butalbital precipitating as it's free acid, but the caffeine will stay dissolved. Filter the solution and throw away the liquid, the stuff that's in the filter is your Butalbital as it's free acid. You can use it as is for oral consumption it doesn't matter much whether it's as free acid or as alkali salt (it's just as corrosive either way). Njoy!

Hi. Please don't bump an old thread, it's against the BDD Guidelines you should have read and that are in my signature.
