hello, yesterday i had a wisdom tooth extracted however because they couldnt control the bleeding they had to suture me up and thus the wound is "closed". (as in there isnt a huge socket hole there like before) (5 in total)

my mouths still bleeding lightly. However i havent had a rip in some time now and i really want a vape rip or bong rip.

i also have amoxicillian to take as a antibiotic. (three times a day for a week).

its been 21 hours since the surgery (i slept since)

i dont feel any ambient pain. (only when i touch it)

apparently rinsing is important, i was thinking of just putting some gauze in my mouth on that side, and take a rip, then salt water rinse after.

thank you for your thoughts and time.

Yeah you don't want a dry socket. So if you can hit the bong and not cough then go ahead. I stick to small hits out if a bowl tho

alrighty, it seems the "sucking" aspect is what makes dry socket common (as well coughing can mess up other things in my mouth). so ive beleive it or not... have been trying to suck softer. (in practice)

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Not because of dry socket, though (I don't think you have to worry about that as the wound was sutured/stitched and closed as a result). My reasoning is that the wound(s) left behind from the surgery is/are still bleeding. Let it heal before you cascade pot smoke all around a bleeding wound. While I don't think dry socket is probable in your situation, the wound isn't truly "closed" if it's still bleeding. You don't want to fuck around with that kind of shit with a constant or consistent intake of smoke, regardless of what kind of smoke.

Rinsing is important-- not just as a countermeasure against infection after smoking, but as an infection countermeasure period.

Ultimately it's up to you, but I, for one, think smoking after oral surgery is a terrible idea regardless the circumstances. That said, I really don't believe sutured wounds in the mouth are likely or even able to create a dry socket. I may be wrong on that, but my understanding of the condition leads me to believe I'm correct.

Carbonized material will stop bleeding, but I'd be concerned that smoke will affect the local immune system in your mouth. Your lymph system would have to work on clearing our smoke debris on top of healing your mouth. Whenever you smoke, the immune system shifts to clear out the lungs, and this represents an opportunity cost to other ailing parts of the body.

IMO if you want to have weed then you should ingest it somehow. It will help with your healing that way.

I got a molar pulled the other day and my mouth was bleeding pretty bad. I had a cigarette 45 mins after and I took Very small hits out if the bowl. And if you smoke just don't huff it down real fast.

Anecdotal evidence would indicate that you should be fine as long as you don't do it very often in a day, and you minimize the suction. Your idea of using a saline rinse is wise, but the act of swishing is not. Just tilt your head side to side instead, I suppose, if you do decide to do this.

All in all it would be more wise to find another way to consume it, or not to use at all.

Maybe take up smoking your bong through your nose? ;)

I wouldn't recommend it having seen what dry socket looks like when my mother got it twice in a row (scraped once to get it to bleed again, and it happened again)
However when I got mine out I continued to blaze and smoke cigarettes, but I rinsed regularly.
I wouldn't use a bong until it's healed, but a pipe or a joint should be okay, just don't toke to hard
