Hey guys, new here and thought ide say hi. I also was hoping somebody could help answer a question of mine. Yesterday I went to the doctors after having been struggling with a cold/sinus infection and a persistent cough that's almost been a month. Anyways he prescribed me an antibiotic and tussionex for the cough. Turns out my insurance didn't cover the tussionex and before I could get back to the pharmacy to pick up the prescriptions, the pharmacist had called my doctor and they had switched it to virtussin ac. When she said they switched it, I just assumed she ment to a generic version of the same thing. Unfortunately, a couple years ago I had virtussin ac and had to stop taking it because it made my throat really itchy, which is currently also one of the symptoms I'm having. I didnt realize that it was that same cough syrup from before until a couple hours after I picked it up and the pharmacy was closed at that point. I called this morning to find out if there was a way to get the original prescription and pay full price, however the pharmacist said it was too late. So my question is if I call my doctor on Monday, do you think will he write me another tussionex prescription that I can get and pay full price for because money isn't and wasn't the issue, I just didn't contact them in time before they switched it. This cough is so severe and my throat and nose are so itchy and I just need some sleep and a moment of relief. I am so upset because I'm in so much pain and so sick of this cough and I'm stuck with something that would barely help and makes my throat even itchier. I haven't even opened the virtussin ac because I remember how itchy it makes my throats that I don't even want to go there. Plus I want to have it to give back if my doctor will give me another tussionex script so I don't look like I'm just trying to get extra cough syrup. So, what do you guys think? Will my doctor write another or am I screwed?
