Hey everyone!
I joined a few weeks ago and was super interested for a bit while tweaking for the weekend, but then fell off a bit when I stopped again (whew! I cant do that stuff like I used to... Thankfully!). I am back again now that school has started again and I remembered how incredibly knowledgeable some of the people here are about chemistry and synthetic/biochemistry/toxicology/pharmacology. I hope I can glean some information off of you all from reading things here. If anyone has ANY recommendations for me please don't hesitate to message me or respond here! I would love to be pointed in directions that are beneficial to my future.
I am currently a Student at Community College in Kitsap County, WA and getting my (2nd) Associates degree in Science. I have completed my Gen Chem, Majors Biology, Anatomy and Physiology and am in my last quarter for Organic Chemistry and damn it is hard. I want to study Biochemistry and plan to go into something along the lines of Drug Discovery/Toxicology/Pharmacology... I really would like to create a drug that is nanotech, similar to the idea of Vivitrol, that would actually neutralize the Heroin before getting to the neurotransmitters it affects. So where Vivitrol actually blocks them, and the drug cant get people high, but still stays in the body which allows people to do more and more, dying while trying to get high... My idea would degrade the drug so nothing (metabolites I think?) dangerous can get into your system and make you OD, instead the nanotech roaming in the correct areas will detect the drug and release something to destroy/neutralize it. Anyway, that's my dream because I have had such a damned hard time quitting Heroin and I wish I could have injected that at a moment of clarity, knowing I cannot get high for X-amount of time would have helped me in life so many times... over and over.
Anyways! I have a great girl, my own car, no house but a place to live and I am happy. I enjoy video games to an extent, mostly Smite and old school (Yet Another Pixel Dungeon on Android) SNES games. I like outdoorsy stuff too but I haven't gotten to do it as much as I want... Drugs and their effects took and still sometimes take a lot of my time in life, but I do also get things done that aren't just wasting my life away (IMHO)... I am intelligent and enjoy learning and understanding the mechanisms behind things. I want to understand anything and everything I can when it comes to the intersection of Biology and Chemistry. Humans are incredible beings and I hope I can learn a ton here!
