Heroin "variety pack"?

I recently obtained a couple bags of heroin on the West Coast; this was my first time using black tar heroin. Strangely, I found the balloons contained both a blob of black tar and a pouch of white powder. The first time, I dissolved both powder and tar and iv'd the lot; a little on the weak side but decent stuff. The second time I was sketched about injecting a pitch-black solution (so call me a pussy) and decided to smoke the tar in a little crack pipe and to IV the powder. Well, the tar tasted right if a little sweet, but had virtually no effect; I fear I might have scorched it. IV'ing the powder resulted in... nothing.
Has anyone ever gotten a variety pack like this? What is the point of including a powder too if it's just bunk? Or do you think I just got entirely bunk stuff in one bag but good shit in the other?

That sucks. No, I've never heard of a variety pack like that. What did the tar taste like? Not while you are smoking it I mean. What's it taste like when you put a little bit in your mouth. It should be really nasty and almost gag you.
Also, a pitch black solution? I guess that's possible. Actually if I cooked up some dope and saw that the solution was pitch black, I would expect that hit to be able to kill me several times over. I think it shoulda been more of a brownish color than "pitch black".
It really sucks to IV something and then realize that it coulda been anything and it most likely wasn't what it shoulda been. Sorry bout that.
 
Don't know, I didn't actually stick it in my mouth. The smoke was sweet and tangy, much like I remember heroin smoke to be like. Only smoked it once a year or so back, though.
It wasn't pitch black, that was a slight exaggeration, but very dark.... at first I thought I had somehow missed the vein, even though I never do, and then just realized that it was hard to see the blood in the dark solution.
Not that worried about the powder... it produced no psychoactive effects, and was likely just milk sugar or whatever the hell else drugs are cut with.
Someone had obviously gone to the trouble to wrap up the powder and tar in two separate papers... and this was the same in both my bags and a couple someone else got.
 
The powder was probably so you could cut the tar in order to make the doses more manageable or so you could snort it.
That's pretty nice letting you do it yourself so you know the strength of your stuff.
I'd try that guy again.
 
The powder may have been cocaine. If you are in San Francisco it is very common to only sell heroin with coke. I don't know why this is.
 
It was most definitely not coke.... trust me, we would have been much happier if it had been.
SC -- Maybe, but the volumes of tar/powder were about equal, so it wouldn't have helped with making it more manageable. While I could have snorted the powder, I don't know how I could have done anything will the tar... it was too large to snort. Am I missing something here?
 
one and ones are very common in Cali,because when you've been doing tar for awhile it kind of loses the rush.So a little girl with the boy helps out. They usually go for $15. Ten bucks worth of dope, and five of coke.
