Heroin users, past and present: Did you switch to IV and NOT regret it?

I have no regret of switching to IV. Actually, switching wouldn't be the appropiate term for me since I didn't switch from one ROA to another(IV), but just tried it out a few times. It has been several months since I first tried out IV Heroin, before that I always smoked it. For some reason, no drug that I tried out IV gave me a rush, even though they were all well known for the rush they caused. I tried out Fentanyl, Heroin, Cocaine, Rivotril and Dormicum IV, all in high doses, but no rush, just very instant effects.

I actually prefer smoked Heroin over IV, when I smoke it, it comes on within seconds while it takes 10-15 seconds when IV'ed, and like I said, it doesn't give me a rush. I don't see any reason in puncturing my veins when I can get the same effects with an even faster come up when I smoke it. I just have to throw in a bit more Heroin in my vaporiser to redose when I smoke it, while I have to prep a shot and puncture a vein if I want to redose if I would IV. I only IV on special occasions, for example if I get rare ampoules, stuff like that.

I don't regret it. Saved money, increased effectiveness, etc etc.

The only drawback is that this tar is SOO rough on your veins. I used to smoke it. Not nearly as effective and hell on your lungs as well. Tracks, scars and collapsed veins do suck though. Thats my answer.

People seem to be focusing on the positives only... Not that anything else should be expected on a board such as this. You'd get much different answers if you asked this question in a different forum, ie rehab, NA, methadone clinic.

Keep in mind that with IV, the highs are much higher and the lows are much lower than with any other ROA.


You're really the only one that could know how the switch will ultimately affect you. If you're currently addicted/dependent, I wouldn't recommend that you try IV. Even if it's just once to try it out. You'll realize how easy it is and how good it is. After that, it's all downhill. Keep in mind that I'm talking about a scenario in which you're currently addicted/dependent.

If you're not in that situation, and you use once a month or less frequently, then you could probably get away with trying it successfully. That's a big "probably" though...

IV use certainly corresponds with a higher addiction/dependence potential.

I thought I would try it but get someone to do it for me cos I could never stick a needle in myself.

After the first time and realising how simple and painless it was I never looked back and never had anyone do it for me either. It is so simple.

I regret it because I was on the verge of quitting because I didnt get anything from smoking anymore. IV gave it a fresh start but I soon got a tolerance to the bigger amounts of gear I was injecting and ran out of money and lost apartment due to not paying bills. I defo regret IV. Once i had broken the taboo of injecting I saw any other moa as a complete waste of drugs so wouldn't dream of doing it any other way.

I'm impressed that some can choose to IV once in a while cos I could never do that.

I, for one, do regret the switch from intranasal to intravenous heroin use. It escalated my use out the roof, and my insidious urge to stick a needle in my vein is outrageous. I have no idea why I'm so hooked to the syringe and plunger, but I really am. I really wish I just stuck to sniffing the dope, it went alot better for me prior to injecting myself with the shit.

The guys who posted before you said that they did it because it provides a much better high, and that they managed to do it in moderation.

And yes, we know that it's impure, and that there have been cases of fentanyl ODs when it was added to street heroin. So what? Might as well die having fun.

Well, after reading this, I'm fairly certain that I shouldn't even be debating you since you obviously don't have the required IQ. "So what"? So...I actually have something to live for and don't want to die prematurely. I have people who care about me who I also would not want to do that to. I could go on, but the idiocy in your statement shows that you are just too far gone.

Most of the people who use IV heroin here on BL know very well the risks that they are taking.

Again, he asked if it was a good idea, asshat. I told him I didn't think so, and why.
