I am curious if this is normal. I bought a lot of heroin, and used a lot one night. Kept doing shots every 30 min or so. I kept catching myself nodding standing up in my bedroom, for a long time. Finally I got in my bed, would nod...then would wake myself up with a big breath. Like I wasn't breathing for a while, then I would hear myself take one big breath and wake up. I finally fall asleep. When I woke up the next morning, I was so groggy, dizzy, and had a terrible headache. Do you think I was on the verge of overdose?

yup. you experienced pretty classic respiratory depression. you very well could have stopped breathing. consider yourself VERY lucky you only woke up with a head ache (like related to not getting enough oxygen to your brain). take this as a sign to slooooooooow down on your use. try not to redose until you feel the full effects of your last dose/shot. and once you start to nod, take a break from any more opioids until you come down... seriously, you're luck to be alive OP. but I sure am glad that you are :)

Yeh, that sounds super dangerous. Dope is not a drug that you want to shoot every thirty minutes (actually, there's no drug that you want to subject your veins to such frequent prodding).

All I can say, is I'm glad you are alive, and don't do that again!

thanks guys. yea, for some reason i tend to do everything in excess. i am going to try to take it easy for a while. thanks a lot for your replies

Were you alone? Man oh man, that is soooo dangerous, especially if you always tend to play close to the edge like you stated. Next time you get the urge to do this again, please consider having a buddy with you, just in case you get too close to the edge. He/she could save your life. Anyway, short of that - Enjoy!

OP - have you had any problems since? I had a similar experience and it was just like that but I hadn't changed the dose, the smack was more potent than I was used to.

poppy i have alctually done that a few times. I think it is actually kinda scary. For sure slow it down alittle bit before it's one of those times where you dont wake up. i know its hard cause i have that same problem where i always have to do drugs in excess. Good Luck

Yeah you really gotto be careful.. especially falling asleep like that. You were on teh verge of OD for sure.

I live alone too.. it's scary to think what would happen if I od'd. It could be anywhere from 24-72 hours before someone would find me.. and that would be becuase I wasn't answering my phone and my parents would probabyl drive out and see if I was ok. Atleast if you have a roomate they might catch it in time and call 911.

Thast why if I feel like I am ever on teh virge of OD I am just 911'in it, if possible. Unfortunately I think when you OD you don't have the ability to call 911 lol. Maybe I need one of those things for old people that they wear around their neck and press the button if "they've fallen and they can't get up"

For me it was more about "begin found out". Stupid as it may sound I didn't want to call because I didn't want to go through a trip to the hospital and all the nasty things that might come a long with it. I chose to "ride it out" and things worked out okay, but I know enough from the experience that I'll be dialing 911 next time for sure (hopefully there won't be a next time, but you never know).

To the OP: As others said you were on the edge like I was. I know exactly what you were going through and it messed with my head for a long time afterwards (still does). Take it as a warning to not go there again and be careful about your intake from now on. I'll tell you this much: You'll never do another shot in your life again without thinking about that night.

Shit mate...I really think your next symptom would have been blue lips...:( :? 8(...then death by Accidental OD...
The people on here know what they are talking about mate, Take a trip over to the Blue-light Shrine and you will see people who accidentally died, friends of these guys who are or will be answering you. Be careful, Dont take that amount/frequency again....Please:

Your not going to get any higher. Your just pushing yourself near death. I had the same problem years ago and took a 5 minute blue nap. Not a big fan. Once every 5 to 8 hours does me fine. And I been going on 21 yrs.

It's weird.. like I used to do bigger shots less frequently but now for some reason I like doing smaller shots more frequently. For example, I used to get a bun and I'd do like 2 3-bagger shots and 1 4-bagger throughout the day. Now I will do a single bag or a 2-bagger like every hour or 2. You don't get that crazy rush but I feel like it keeps my high going better.

To each their own.. in one sense I think doing bigger shots less frequently is better becuase it's easier on your veins. On the contrary if you are doing 2 massive shots instead of 5 little shots, and you miss one of those shots, you just missed 50% of your shit lol.

but yeah holy shit man life is precious, lips turning blue, that's fucking TERRIFYING to me.

You shouldn't hit up doses of H that frequently. Some seem to imagine that IV means you're getting it all at once and on a fast downward slide thereafter, but that's not so. There are complex metabolisations that will still be ongoing producing active metabolites for a good while after the hit. ( Metabolic path and half-lifes here ) There are multiple half-lifes to consider then in a way that makes subsequent redoses cumulative, so you should never redose that fast. Sounds like you were surfing borderline fatal OD territory for sure.

Sounds like you were on the verge of an overdose, You are lucky to be alive. I've been IV'ing heroin for ten years and I've overdosed several times. Heroin taught me how fragile life is, how every breath we take is a gift. I dont think rookie users realize how close to death you actually are when you've been doing shot after shot or even just ONE good one. I am in recovery now but when i'm using I am very fearful over overdosing, which is why I go a little smaller than most people. I also do my shots standing up, and I dont just lay down and nod out, to me doing a shot and laying down or falling back onto mattress like in the movies is a deathwish. Heroin will take your life in a heartbeat. BE CAREFUL, do not do your shot alone, and do not do a monster shot and nod out.

That's like planning to put on your seatbelt, after you get in a car accident but before you crash. If you OD it's probably not going to work out that way. Ever get anaesthesia in the hospital, remember that feeling of waking up and not even realizing you went under? An OD can happen so fast you won't even know it that's why they find people dead with needles still in their arm. You are lucky for sure, try and watch your own back a little better from now on if you want to live.
