There is nowt worse than being ill, a good mate turning up and giving you a syringe full of brown and white goodness, and then not being able to get your hit. Always happens when im clucking as I'm freezing cold and my veins seem to go into a game of hide and seek!

The frontal cortex of the brain and underlying white matter connections between the frontal cortex and circuits of reward, motivation and memory are fundamental in the manifestations of altered impulse control, altered judgment, and the dysfunctional pursuit of rewards (which is often experienced by the affected person as a desire to “be normal”) seen in addiction--despite cumulative adverse consequences experienced from engagement in substance use and other addictive behaviors. The frontal lobes are important in inhibiting impulsivity and in assisting individuals to appropriately delay gratification. When persons with addiction manifest problems in deferring gratification, there is a neurological locus of these problems in the frontal cortex.

Was gunna post this in the actual Heroin thread cause it seems nobody ever posts in the social thread... But then i'd look like a massive hypocrit, ha.

Anyway, after the drought has been going on for so long, I still can't get my head round 90% of the junkies still going round saying 'Yeah, yeah. This gear is fire!', 'This gear is the best around, top notch.' and then when at the back of your mind your telling yourself it will be shit, but you risk it anyway, it turns out to be that mediocre stuff that just holds you for a while like you first suspected.

But yeh, I don't get it. How do they think the gear is so good? It makes no sense to me what so ever, they were addicts before the drought.. they got addicted on good gear so they must know what proper gear tastes/smells like and must know the proper effects. So I ask again, how do they keep genuinely saying/believing all the gear they are getting is 'fire' and 'good'. Can anyone explain?
 
Yeah Cbroxide thats one thing that i just can't get my head around? Countless times throughout the drought people have told me of really good heroin thats they can get, but EVERY SINGLE TIME when i have got some its just the same old crappy low grade gear that i was already getting myself!!! How are people been so easily fooled??? This is going on for over a year now, have some people just got used to the bash? But i doesn't get you stoned so whats there to get used to?

I can understand that after there wasn't a grain of gear to be got & then suddenly gear became available again that people might have been so happy to get something that at first they might have been fooled, but when you smoke a tray & if your not stoned then surely you'd cop?

Maybe a lot of people were getting low grade gear before the drought so they are just used to it? Crap gear has always been around, but before the drought if you scored bad gear you would go straight back to the dealer & demand your money back! So maybe some people were regularly using this kind'a gear so its normal for them? I don't know? I just can't figure it out?

As i've said a million times the gear in Dublin looks perfect! Its a nice tan powder, when you burn it on the foil it has a lovely black shiny beetle & it lives proper dark traces on the foil, this stuff looks 100% perfect! But the taste is wrong & there is no stone off it! There seems to be benzos in it so it makes you sleepy but not stoned. So i can totally understand how someone could look at it & be fooled, but the second you taste it you know its rubbish!!!

Anyone who has been smoking this low grade gear for the last year can't be that addicted to it, they would probably be more addicted to the benzos that are in it, but there is little or no heroin in it! Although there must be some sort of opiate in it coz my urines have come back positive for opiates, i reckon there is codeine or something in it & maybe the tiny'ist bit of heroin, but i would be surprised if there was no heroin in it at all!!! I would love to be able to get it tested to find out what is actually in it!!!

But i will never understand why it has so many people fooled? Although most people have got wide to it now, hardly anyone in my methadone clinic scores anymore, they might test the water once every few weeks like myself, but very few people will score regularly in Dublin, none of the longer term users bother anymore. i wonder if the heroin trade will ever recover from this drought............
 
The heroin trade will come back in a big way, at the moment its up and down in a lot of areas. Not many folks I know of say things have been banging the whole time.

People fooling themselves is an odd one, some of it will be to do with wanting the sickness to go away, so you act positive, its not a silly thing for someone to do to themselves, but being around them is V confusing.

I was reading a neurological tome which, simplified, said the circuit reaction that creates the 'feeling' of a heroin flash only 'normally' occurs on rare, memorable occasions..like hearing you got the top job or when that starlet leads you into her trailer. The writer seemed to wonder from what societal standpoint junkies are considered stupid. Why, that's the law, sah.

The distinctions are rather blurred and I'm not really sure which heroin thought belongs on which thread. Were I socialising, I'd say I come online like I once watched the telly during the dull hours of a Sunday when there's nothing else to do.. Not a lot on tonight, as far as I can see. Maybe someone could post the links to new, interesting drug or other sites and broaden my online entertainment-cum-education range.

ime their are still small batches of good gear around occasionally !, but like it has always been its about who you know , where you are n luck .

The thing is these are small batches of gear not Tonnes of the stuff . If you can get to the right person at the right time ( before the gear is stamped on ) you can still get good quality gear ,but the odds of this happening are the the worst i have ever experienced.

I find it very hard to believe that anyone could have been getting decent stuff ALL the time that sounds like bollox.

Possibly, Brimz, I'm not in tune with the neurological terminology. But I think the author was saying heroin duplicates the chemical reaction that occurs 'naturally' in the brain when something great happens to its owner. Why it attracts layabouts like me who like the feeling but not the work required to achieve it in the 'normal' course of things.

Can't remember the researcher's name but I came across their work following links from the late, great Mary Jeanne Kreek, who of course touches on similar matters herself.

Outside of Switzerland, Amsterdam is the best place I got gear from..... well my mate got it from there, he drove back to France with it. You should be alrite.

Hello ladies and gentlemen
New to London and about to run out of Oxys which I'm on for some full on crap pain!!!
Tried calling some local GP's who it seems aren't allowed to prescribe the shit here but was told at a local health centre to go to an out-patients. So just wanna know if that's correct or not as I see waiting time in out-patients is about three and a half hours on average which would wipe a whole day for me?

Cus it sounds like your from a country were painkillers scripts are handed out like sweets..... if so.

Then you be fucked, no jokes. A Dr will not just hand out a Oxy script in the UK with out evidence from your GP who gave you that prescription back were you came from..... SO get on the phone NOW, to you previous DR, tell them the situation. Otherwise you will be buying heroin or trying to get a methadone script OR clucking.

Ha thanks for getting straight back....I forgot I don't have the time difference anymore and wasn't expecting anyone to see this until morning : )
bin here three weeks. I have all paperwork, what I don't have though is any health cover!

Oh and no they are not easy to get in Oz either but I have a v high tolerance to codeine.
So, is the OP at local hospital the right place mate?

So you have all the paper work for a prescription? Well if you have a prescription go to a pharmacy. If you not a EU national then I dont know how much it will cost.

If your paper work says he needs a prescription for a Oxy's then just walk to a GP, dont bother phoning OR go to a pharmacy and they will help you out..... the man thing you need to do is get your arse to a pharmacy or GP, dont bother talking over the phone, that way they dont have to help you..... but if you in front of them its a lot harder.
 
Ah Ok thanks heaps. I've been halving dose to make them last and it's been getting a bit hard to see the days out brother : )
