Hi,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have a couple questions that hopefully you guys can help me answer.

I use to be a heroin addict and I would use everyday about 4 times a day, doing about a gram a day, I was IV'ing and I had been using for a couple years. Anyway I got clean and completed a rehab program and I was clean for a few months as of recently, I was also on naltrexone and I quit the naltrexone a couple days before I relapsed. Although 6 days ago I relapsed and for the last 6 days I have been using everyday but only ONCE a day for the last 6 days. I have only been doing a bit over half a point each time I used so I only used around .4g in the last 6 days with only doing one shot in the day. First question is do you think I will have any physical withdrawal from using for only 6 days with only one shot a day with 24 hours in between each use? I think my physical withdrawal will be very minimal if I do have any because I used such a tiny amount and it was only for 6 days with 24 hours in between each use, it was not like I was constantly using for the last 6 days, all my shots were very spaced out with the total amount used being so small too. But I wanted to get everyone else's feedback and thoughts too.

So my second question was I knew I would be able to use again by stopping my naltrexone a couple days before I relapsed and then I would be able to get high again, anyhow I want to be clean again so I would like to start taking my naltrexone again. I was wondering how long would I need to be off heroin before I can safely start taking my naltrexone again? I am on 25mg a day. I'd like to start taking it again so I can't use anymore and it also helps cravings and is like my insurance policy that I can't use anymore but I know if I take the naltrexone too early that it will put me into withdrawal, unless I don't have enough in me.

Anyway I hope you guys can help me out with some knowledge.

Thank you!

I would expect hardly noticeable WD from such low dose and infrequent use, if at all, but everyones different. Stop now while u can tho that'd b my advice

Withdrawals shouldn't be a problem. Look into the Naltrexone shot...it's called Vivitrol. You get it once a month so there's really no way to weasel your way into using.

I personally think you will def notice the WD. Not saying they will be horrible, but I think you will def notice they are there and start craving dope. I am an addict and even if I was clean for 2 months and used 3 days in a row even only 1 shot per day (back to back is the cause for this) it restarts my sickness. Its basically like it never went away and if I do more than 2 days back to back it restarts. Thats just me anyways, I know some other ppl on the forum are the same way.

As far as how long after the dope can you take the naltrexone, I think you can take it as soon as the heroin is completely out of your system. Example 24hrs. But I could be wrong so you should wait for someone else to respond to that part of your question.

Even though you were using such a small amount you will get WD's esp if you were IV'ing because its been 6 consecutive days. If you used every other day it would be a different story. But this is from my personal experience (tho i never IV'd) I get WDs really bad worst then all my friends always. Maybe im just a bitch lol. But your story is exactly the same as thousand's of other people- once you stop taking subs and use again your stuck in the trap. Even if you go back on subs it will only be a matter of time before you say "okay im gonna only use this one occasion because i have subs and I know i can avoid WD". Then that one occasion turns into your old habit. Sorry to be so pessimistic but its a story thats been repeated by every active user i know.

Anyhow, good luck to you! If you want to get clean, stop using RIGHT NOW and get back on the subs. DELETE all your connects. STAY AWAY from people who use. Of course you already know this. Of course this won't happen. Good Luck (not trying to be sarcastic at all)

He shouldn't be stuck in the trap since he isn't on Subs. He is taking a medication called naltrexone, a full opioid antagonist, it blocks everything, there is no way to get around it unless he stops taking it. He is asking when it's safe to take it because it will put him into full blown withdrawal, not precipitated withdrawal like Subs.

To answer your question man, usually in pharmacy they say a medication is considered gone within seven half-lives, so we'll say 28 hours max, but I'd stick it out the rest of the day to be safe at the two day mark. You may feel very mild withdrawal but it won't hit you until that point in the day when you were used to using, unless you take your naltrexone. Expect minor discomfort, but you won't have to worry about hanging over the porcelain bowl I don't think, haha. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

honestly, you should be working on yourself mentally. your an addict. if you dont fix your head, your gonna end up going back to the needle. I was on Vivatrol and it worked great for me. It let me concentrate on getting my head under control so I could stay clean. It helps knowing that you cant get high on dope. I stopped taking it after 3 months and have stayed clean.

the point to my post is this, vivatrol, bupe, methadone...they are all crutches. you have to get right in your head in order to stay clean.

good luck
