Heroin question

Have a friend whos in his early stages of using heroin (about 2 months daily)...

he used to be a meth head but unfortunatley discovered heroin while in rehab for meth.

how many days/hours can he go without iv'ing h before getting sick?

also, his tolerance is going up. should he waste less money by not trying to get high and just maintain himself and keep himself from getting sick?

He started iv'ing half a balloon a day but now shoots up 6 times that.

what should he expect from the withdrawals if he decides to quit? is it possible for him to work while wd'ing?
 
Damn he went from a 1/2 ballon at a time to shooting 6 per day/or at one time?!! Must be tar, but withdrawals are hell the first time, especially for someone who is shooting 6 times a day, working while going through withdrawal is not likely to happen, as nasuea ,vomiting, cramps, feeling "pain " all over your body, feeling weak, etc.. make withdrawal a nasty thing, even after 2 months of daily use..
 
By six times the original amount I meant he iv's 3 balloons a day now. I think he shoots up three times a day. Is that a lot? I hear of scary stories when it comes to h wd's. :P

Ok, the first urge will alway be to get high by doing more. After rationalizing with yourself, you will compromise and say I'll just do it to fight the withdrawls.

Honestly though, why is it worth it to try to maintain a habit if its not doing what it's supposed to do for you? And isn't that to get you high? The obvious solution here is that if you are done with it, be done, even if its just for awhile to get it out of your system and detox.

For me, the worst time wasn't my first, but at the amount this person is at, I could imagine it being pretty uncomfortable. This is also something that you don't want to bring to work, some people will think this person has the flu so bad they shouldn't be there, and the other people will just think there is something wrong, big time.

Take about three days off, make sure you have a good list of supplies (I responded to somebodies thread and wrote a list, but youre gonna have to find it), and put yourself somewhere where you can't get any opiates for three or so days.

At the amount this person is at, withdrawls could start anywhere between 8 and 12 hours after the last shot, maybe even sooner, so you have to be prepared for this and realize that your body is gonna bring out all the tricks in the book to convince your mind that this isn't worth it. You just have to be strong.

After this shit is done, you can either go back to your old life before dope or you can come back and get way higher off of a smaller amount.

The choice is yours.
 
He'll probably get dope sick within 4 hours if he's doing it 3x a day. Gauranteed. I bet he'll start kicking before 8. Luckily...its NOT that hard to get off it. It feels awful...but you stick with it. If he was on meth before...and then got on H...and now is on 3x more H...I dont detect any sort of self-discipline. No offense. So that means getting off all of it...cuz clearly he has too much of an addictive personality to just get high once in a while. it wont happen.

advice: kick hard and quick. he'll vomit like crazy. wild diarrhea. probly last up to a week max. definitely wont be able to function much for that time but its worth it. and then POOF. he'll wake up one day feeling fine. maybe groggy and nostalgic but refreshed knowing he's clean. get rid of everything. if he leaves even one little goody for old time's sake...then he's not serious about getting off it. dont let him kid himself into thinking he 'needs' H to feel better during detox. take a week off 'for the stomach flu'
 
I don't believe in such thing as "early stages of heroin abuse." At least not for me. He will be getting sick every 6-12 hours if your amount estimates are correct.
 
He will probably get sick 8 hours after his last dose if he is shooting .3g (3 balloons) a day. It will be impossible for him to work while going through the initial withdrawals. He'll feel very weak, almost like he has the flu. His muscles and bones will hurt like hell and he'll feel like he has to throw up every couple hours. Working while going through heroin withdrawals...not likely. People will look at you like your a junky or either have the flu.
