So I am trying to fill my needle and have wasted about half my stash because the Qtip im using as a filter isn't working and the needle isn't sucking anything up...the puddle just stays there and im getting it on my fingers wasting it....why wont the needle suck up the heroin? should I use something other than a Qtip?

Also try rolling the needle. Sometimes cotton fibers get stuck and block it.
Use a micron filter. Easily obtained over the internet, cheap, you lose much less as it is basically a thin paper-like filter rather than something that can absorb a lot of liquid, and it filters out so much more crap than any other kind.
You should never let your fingers touch anything you are going to be injecting... try to keep everything as sterile as possible

It sounds like you got some dirty dope.. Your dope should pull right through your cotton and really you shouldn't have anything left beh ind. The poitn of cotton is to catch larger particles.. but if your cotton is getting 'clogged' chances are you have a lot of insoluable cuts. The few times I ahve gotten shitty or fake dope it was a chore to get it in the pin. The good shit pulls through easy and clean doesn't chang ethe color of cotton at all.
IMO a micron is not necessary if you get decent dope.. pills on the other hand it's vital. Will it hurt you? Hell no. If you can afford the micron's buy them by all means./
Also are you using a whole q-tip? All you need is to tear a litlt epiece off and ball it up, like size of a marijuana seedc.

Would a used needle cause this? I've never had that happen, but after seeing the pix others have posted of used needles, I wouldn't be surprised if it inhibited the flow through the cotton! You people and your (relatively) clean dope! 
I almost always get black tar, and lemme tell ya, my cotton is never clean, even brown powder is an ugly mess.
