Heroin Nuroprotective Qualities?

I was discussing some of the positive physical side effects of opiates with a friend today, and I mentioned that heroin was said to have some sort of positive neuroprotectant properties. I remember reading a medical journal on it, but have no memory as to the details. Im sure if there is some truth to that, someone on here would know.

i recall this being stated in pertinance to E and heroin being used together and i was eager as hell to know more about this.

anyone else? i Cant seem to find much information online, possibly because heroin is viewed as a trash heap junkie substance amongst the keen minds in the medical field.

Well opiates (I understand) tend to reduce body temprature, one of the biggest contributers to E nuerotox.
I highly doubt the effect is anything else as opiates are often very specific to their receptor type which is fairly far removed from the types of neurotransmitters that E affects. Then again the brain is a really strange place so who knows.

My memory got a lot better once I started using heroin regularly. That was more than likely a coincidence, though.
If heroin or any other opiates have any neuroprotective qualities, they're obviously negated by the negative effects of physical addiction. As well as obviously not doing anything wonderful for anyone.
Sorry, I've seen a lot of intelligent junkies. But heroin isn't going to make your life better.
This is just another bullshit thing someone picked up on to justify using drugs.
I don't know why people can't just say "I like getting high and my personal satisfaction outweighs the consequences for me," instead of making up all these gayass excuses or arguments.
I used to believe drugs weren't legal because there were enough people oppossed to them. Which may have something to do with it. But I believe the reason the legal issues aren't changing is because people aren't willing to say "I just like getting high and it's my business". Instead they come up with all these reasons why drugs are good, which are pretty much all bullshit.

It is nearly impossible to find unbaised clinical reports regarding heroin online. I have tried a number of times.
One place you may want to check is: Heroin Times If you can't find what you are looking for on the site, email one of the admins. as they are friendly and helpful. Chances are they will be able to help or atleast point you in the right direction. (Heroin Times is just a great site in general)
I can say from personal experience and opinion that heroin does SEEM to reduce neurotoxic effects of other drugs. I often used it in the past to combat after effects of MDxx and meth. Now weather the negative after effects were actually reduced or just masked by the H (more likely IMO) I have no idea.
