I felt the urge to compile a short little report on heroin insufflation and its effects. Enjoy.
A lot of people seem to want to know "how heroin feels"; undoubtedly followed up by "how does x route of administration feel"? From a rather experienced point of view allow me to share how it feels to me.
The first several times I did the deed I strictly smoked it. The instantaneous rush is/was all it was cracked up to be. I am sure everyone has heard stories of how "good" it feels and so forth. Allow me to tell you that without a tolerance smoking feels like you probably think it would. In one word amazing. I noticed however, that probably by the fourth or fifth bag I had ever done that rush was different. It wasn't gone, but it wasn't the same as it was. So I did what so many others do and decided to switch up my ROA to insufflation.
The very first time I snorted it I did an average sized line (for me at least). I did the dirty deed and lifted my head to bask in the effects. Allow me to provide a little outline of sorts to help better detail my experience. (NOTE: This is based on my first experience).
0=the exact moment of insufflation and thereafter time will be measured in minutes AFTER ingestion.
00:00- Did my line and quickly plopped on to the couch to let it take hold.
00:05- Nothing. I noticed the powder did burn ever so slightly. But so far no noticeable effects and certainly no rush.
00:07- I can feel the "creeps". I affectionately refer to the caressing warm sensation brought on by H as the creeps.
00:10- The creeps slowly, so slowly began to expand out from the back of my throat/sinuses and into my neck. Wherever the creep touches it induces a level of calm and relaxation that truly can't be described in words.
00:35- By now I am properly cruising my heroin high.
Now, what I really wanted to point out is this:
BE CAREFUL when insufflating. There have been so many times when I would wait only fifteen or twenty minutes and begin to get very disappointed. This is where snorting CAN be very dangerous. Since it takes noticeably longer to get into your blood via insufflation so many people so many people, myself included, decide to do more. Even if it's just a little bump or a small line this can be a terrible idea. So quickly can one go from having a good mellow, productive high to nodding or even straight passing out. This is your body telling you that you have done too much! All of a sudden you fall asleep, often times without recalling ever doing so. And then (HOPEFULLY) you wake up and the really not fun part begins. You won't wake up high, depending of course on your dosage. Oh no, instead you will wake up with the most excruciating headache you have ever had in your entire life. A headache that WILL not go away without running it's dreadful fucked up course. You get to wake up and be very literally SICK for a good 12 hours. And I am talking extreme nausea sick, falling asleep only to wake right back up and that ever-present headache. On top of all that you get to revel in the fact that you just essentially paid good money to make yourself very sick.
Don't insist on learning the hard way like I did, just give it time. I truly think only after you've really gotten sick once from over-dosage will you realize the truth in the old adage "you can always put more heroin in, but you can't take it out." To any newcomer I say this, STOP while you can. If you don't have the desire to stop, then please heed the warnings of myself and the others far more experienced than I. TAKE it slow. You see, when you are smoking it you can easily gauge just how high you are and call it quits before you get sick. With snorting it isn't so easy, because as I mentioned you can do your dose and then not feel anything for an upwards of 25-30 minutes. Even longer sometimes!
Conversely, if you just exercise the SMALLEST amount of patience then you can properly dose and get righteously fucked up. Now for me it seems that not only is the effect delayed when I insufflate, but it seems to have it's own unique rush. This is why I prefer snorting over IV and smoking, of which I have done both. It is no rush in the traditional sense of the term, but to me it seems like a very long drawn out rush. It is very much akin to a rollercoaster going up a hill, if I time it perfectly it can feel like I am going up the steepest never-ending hill. It literally just gets better and better until you are beyond content. Let me reinforce, the worst feeling in the world is when you're going up that rollercoaster and you reach that point where you aren't nauseous, but you feel like it wouldn't take much to get you to become so and the rollercoaster keeps on going. You can't make it stop or say, "Okay, I am done."
Heroin is very much a rollercoaster ride that does not give even one-tenth of a fuck on how you're doing. It can be your best friend and take you places nothing else can, but it JUST as easily can drag you to a depth of hell you'll pray you don't ever return to. But alas, that seems to be a part of the game... Everyone gets taken to that special pit every now and then. Make no mistake about it, heroin is not your friend. Ask anyone who is hooked, no matter who you are or what you've done, your tolerance et cetera, if you persist in using there WILL come a day when doing heroin becomes a necessity. Say goodbye to those old days of joyous euphoric bliss and say hello to the days of gut wrenching, sweaty, rashy, cramped nausea that can ONLY be satiated by heroin. I promise there will come a day when using it will only make you feel normal. It's not even a matter of not feeling sick, it's a matter of feeling human.
