Heroin for the first time at age 40

I am not sure how to even start this....probably because I am high right now and loving it. I have had a love affair with drugs for years that started when I was 14, and has been interrupted by life and the need to grow up. I've done most drugs at least once. Opiates and uppers are my favorites. But up until tonight I drew the line at heroin. Just like up until a few years ago, I drew the line at crack. I loved coke in the 80s and found it again a few years ago. It was disappointing because it's not the same. It was killing my poor nose so I started shooting it. Expensive habit so I decided to try crack in an effort to save money. Yeah right. It was love at first hit. There's no controlling myself once I start. Anyway, I ended up in rehab and got clean. (I've been in and out of recovery for years. 8 years was the longest I ever had.)

I recently relapsed after 9 months clean of all substances. I was just diagnosed with MS and was given Dulaudid in the emergency room for pain and LOVED it. I left with a script for Percs and finished that in 2 days. Within a few days I was back smoking crack. The crack felt great but once again, the devatation I feel when it's gone is beyond sad. So tonight I got this brilliant idea to get 3 small rocks and a bag of dope. Because I've never done it before, I was careful to snort only small amounts and wait and see what happened. Well, I think I'm in love. <3 Feeling wonderfully calm and peaceful. Better than the desperation I get with crack.

All I can say is Uh Oh

Hi there, welcome to BL!

Is this more of a blog about you now trying Heroin? Are you on it now is that what you mean by high and loving it?

Not to kill your buzz (if you have done it) but maybe you shouldn't take up Heroin, I can't remember the last life story someone had to tell about it that ended up well.

Hope you keep safe tonight. <3

It's easier to stop a heart with heroin than any other drug. The older we get, the more dangerous and less we can take. Please don't get caught up.

Heroin is an amazing high. It's my favorite drug. With that in mind, I'd say give up on it before you get into something you don't want to. Once you're hooked it's incredibly hard to get off.

You drew the line at crack, but got hooked on it still even though it made you feel so shitty coming off. Now with a diagnosis of MS, pain relief might be needed but heroin is going to lead you places where you don't want to go. :/

Is this basically saying it causes the most overdose deaths? Its not like crack, though, its not going to exacerbate cardiac conditions. Just don't overdo it, or have someone around with narcan if you must.

OP, realize this, if you become as mentally addicted to heroin as you apparently have been to crack you will develop the physical dependence and its not much fun.

That's where the danger of heroin lies because it does make you feel so good and you forget about all your problems.
It's not a good idea to start taking heroin at any age but why start taking it your age, you've got to age 40 without needing it to get buy.
I have been off heroin for just over a year now but I started like you are doing now apart from I smoked it rather than snort.
If you carry on you will more than likely at some stage in the future start injecting it for the better high and for economical reasons and eventually you will need to spend your money on buying it every day just to stop you feeling sick, not a good place to be.
My initial fun time at weekends with heroin ended up with a habit that lasted over a decade so think carefully of what may happen if you decide to carry on using.
